Well I've got a 2 way Tomei Traxx and I've ran Royal purple 75-90 gear oil. Which I managed to burn.... Penrite Sin 75 has been good so far. It seems to have more lim-slip additive as it reduced the chattering more than the Royal Purp. I will say it was an endurance race that killed the royal purple which most people won't use their cars in

SAE75W/90 Gear oil - most of the WA crowd uses Redline Shockproof.
You will need 1 liter or 1.06 quartz (two bottles) for a NA8/NB8 diff.
I suspect the NC will require a little more.

The NC is actually less. 0.7 litres GL-5 90 for the diff. Gearbox is 2.1 litres GL-4 75W 90.

I use Penrite Sin 80 (80W-140) in my Mazdaspeed 1.5?way.
Changed it after the first track day break-in and its been excellent (quiet, no chatter) ever since..

i'm surprised all oils mentioned so far are not labelled LSD compatible by their manufacturers.
i'm in the same situation and am currently eyeing motul 90PA.

Sorry I'm not really willing to wait for another GB.
I think you can get it locally, around 60 dollars for a 1 L tin.

I called Hi-Octane in Sydney when I got the Tomei Diff as they're the australian distributor. He said they run the Royal Purple Max gear with all their cars. They've made a few weapons so figured they were a good source. The Royal purple lasted 30,000km but then it's tracked non-stop. So I probaly should've changed it earlier...

My NA8 has got an unknown LSD in it. Low speed / tight maneuvering is hard work with juddering and all sorts of funny noises so its definitely an aftermarket one of some sort.
I have got in my shed an unopened bottle of Limslip 90 Extra heavy duty SAE 80W90, API GL-5/6. Would this be okay to use?

Are you sure it is an LSD? Could be a locked diff by the sound of it.
I used to run Limslip in my plate type diff of my Escort with no probs.

I don't think it is locked. I have not really had a chance to 'make progress' properly but it feels like my old Mk1 MR2 did with a harsh KAAZ clutch type LSD...behaved like a locked diff at low speed but felt normal on the move.
I just want the thing to be a bit quieter and less juddery. I'm thinking part of the problem may be that it has not been done in a long time!
