Righteo
I have spoken to Les and gained his sage advice.
I wants to turbo. I want to do it once and do it properly. I want a kit that I can spend the xmas break installing. Must be "complete".
it is a 2001 NB8B.
Clutch is new 6 puck brass button. Rest is stock. Adaptronic will be the ECU and Les has kindly referred me to a local tuner.
Anyone have any thoughts on the above three suppliers they wish to share?
Cheers

I previously had an avo kitted NA8, never had any dramas at all with any of the hardware. For the money I'd def go with an AVO kit and save on shipping/taxes etc.
Im also in the process of a DIY turbo setup. Have got turbo/dump/ecu and stuffs already. I need to get a turbo manifold. Can anyone shed light on which manifolds are good besides AVO that i know of?

the only other thing i've found that seems to be half decent is this thing from flyin miata.......... (clicky the link)
http://www.flyinmiata.com/index.php?deptid=4524&parentid=0&stocknumber=22-21020
Though i got a bit over excited on ebay and bought a evo 7 turbo....(td05) Prob should have looked at it before i snapped it up.....everything is backwards on it the inlet for the exhaust housing is on the wrong side etc....because its off a east west mounted engin...so it will have to be top mount or side mount.......very custom manifold......lucky i live with a qualified welder He already has the exhaust flange plotted on the laser cutter at his work.....though i dont intend on rushing into the project because i want it all to fit nice and work properly......
What turbo's do you guys intend on using ?

Yah the FM manifold looks good...
Iv'e got an internally gated GT2876R with a .86 hotside which has got me a bit worried as i dont think it will spool very well so I need a manifold which will help spool up with my turbo. Was also looking at the ETD manifolds. They seem to be very well built.
$499 ceramic coated.

Why don't you just swap the exhaust housing for a 0.64 (off any Silvia turbo)? I think I remember seeing some complaints of clearance issues for the ETD manifolds on Miataturbo.net so do a little research first before you spend your money. It may have been only the external wastegates fouling so please check either way.
FM manifolds are my preference at the moment.

I've fitted and tuned all 3 kits in my time. First started with AVOs, the BEGi/FM and now the new FM kits. All the kits have challenges.
BEGi - Quality control seems to be poor, as well as build quality. You're always seem to have to file, bend or cut something. Powder coating is poor.
AVO - Manifold is a PITA to fit due to the shape and the central nut requires a ground spanner and can be difficult to remove.
FM - Intercooler mounting isn't the strongest and the silicon piping isn't my favorite in terms of looks.
In terms of performance, I'd hand it to AVO. I've not seen a better intercooler from BEGi or FM, and I believe the manifold is the best flowing (although make sure it's got expansion cuts and don't drill it for an EGT probe; too thin). I saw 17psi on a NBB by 3300rpm and went onto top 310bhp.

Hey Les,
I will def keep an eye out for a silvia housing, I wasnt sure if they were the same... So a housing from an S13/S14/S15 SR20 will be ok?
Thanks,

There have been a few complaints about cracks in the manifold on the turbo forum

Thanks,
rxmx,
Make sure it has the same number of bolt holes as your current housing (particularly where the CHRA connects). From memory BB centres use a housing with more bolts than the non BB type.
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.

took delivery of Begi stage 2 (with a 2560), walbro 255, 550 injectors and adaptronic p&p.
Just moved to a new house so the install will have to wait a couple of weeks while i clear the shed

Congrats Monty!
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
