Hi everyone
I am a newbie here and would like to get some option from you all.
I have a 1992 NA and fitted a second hand NB roof with frame last year. The original NA roof assembly is now in storage.
The NB roof is getting old and I am planning to get a new Robbins glass roof and whole set of window rubber seal.
And my questions are:
Should I fit the roof to the NA frame with NA rubber seal or
Fit the roof to NB frame with NB rubber seal?
I have heard NB frame is actually higher than NA frame so the sealing edge between NB top and NA glass is actually lower than NB top and NB glass... is it going to create sealing (leak) problem? Is anyone out there experienced something similar?
Or I should stick with NA frame and NA rubber seal... is it going to seal better?
Thank you in advance and looking forward to hear from you..
Which Window seal should get? NA or NB?

I can't advise whether one will seal better than the other, but seeing as you're looking to replace the softtop, is there any advantage to using the NB frame, as the NA frame can be used if slightly modified to accommodate a glass rear window?
If not already seen, the following recent thread on mixing & matching NA & NB softtops & frames might be of interest: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=40651

Thank you 93_Clubman
No particular reason actually. Since I am planning to get the roof with glass rear window so I thought I may as well use the NB frame.
My current window seal is quite old and that is why I am unable to determine the leak is from the extra clearance by NB roof or the rubber itself.
And you are right... since the mod is relatively simple so may as well use the NA top instead.
Thank you and appreciate it.

no problem - there's a good how to somewhere on the forum, but just give yourself plenty of time, like a day, take pics that you can refer to for reassembly, & from memory removing the seats helps.

i have a NB glass softop on my NA6 and it does leak a little when it rains
imo, i reckon itll be best to stick with the NA frame and retrofitting the NB glass on it.
The sealing edge being higher does actually create leaks from time to time

Thank you s2ky_mx
Yeah, I just noticed that after reading some messages that you posted previously.
Correct me if I am wrong, I also believed the rain rail is longer in NB than NA. I meant the outlet (where it goes to the collecting area behind seat belt post) ends closer to the driver.
Therefore when it rains very heavily, water may spill over the collecting funnel and makes the carpet wet, just like having blocked drain tube..
Is anyone experienced something similar? Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks
Tommy
