For those interested in driving an MX-5 'round Tasmania (which we should all know by now is a MUST)
www.launcestoncarhire.com.au have an NB available to hire at a very very very reasonable price! After doing the sums, for QLD'ers this is great as its cheaper for us to fly to Launnie and hire a car rather than drive down.
I'm in no way affilliated with the company, just a happy customer (just got back from a 10 day trip showing off our 6 month daughter to the rest of the wife's family). Because of that we had to hire a corolla (shudder

) for the majority of the time but we did indulge in some drop top action and hired their Alfa Romeo Spider for a day (we spent 2 weeks in our old MX-5 driving around Tassie several years ago). The Alfa was as slow as an mx5 but suprisingly handled quite well and was a joy to drive... we took it up Cethana, down to Wilmot, across to Castra then eventually ulverstone, simply put there wasnt a dull moment.
Just a couple tips...
Leaners and
P platers are limited to 80kmh. On the 110kmh main highway they are adundant and frustrating. Solution - Take the B roads
Dont just follow the tourist routes... take randon turns, its amazing what roads you can end up on!
Hopefully this isnt a repost and someone finds it helpfull.
Cheers,
