as soon as he sells it, the headers will go on, and i'll look at ITB's a lot more in depth.

i'm not worried about the fuel costs because $10 lasts me 2-3 weeks.

Nice one Sliq. There's nothing like being the master of your own destiny. Although I already owned my primary place of residence prior to starting my own business, I've returned most of the retained earnings into growing the business rather than unrelated investments (ie. residential property)....I prefer to have more control of my money than less.....which would have been the case if I had put it anywhere else than into my business.

one out of two parcels came in today, for my wheels.

althought i had ordered the hubcentric rings from ebay UK before ordering some new spline nuts from goodwin racing, the goodwin racing package had come in earlier. Brian had sent my goodies via USPS Priority Mail. the service is top notch and i received the item one and a half weeks after ordering.





do NOT use hairdryers to fasten the nuts





a lot of attention has gone into these nuts. i love it





If you look really close, you can actually see the two piece nature of this lug by looking into the lug at the bottom of the picture. The part that touches the wheel (the "seat") stops turning and a bearing between that little ring and the rest of the lug allows the outer part of the lug to keep turning. What this means for you is that the lugs are not grinding against the surface of your rims.





can't wait to put these on once the hubcentric rings come through.

Title: Worries and woes..

as a few of you guys know, i had some fuel dramas a couple of weeks ago. i wasn't 100% sure what it was but after seeking some advice from a few people, it was narrowed down to the fuel filter (despite my poor description of the problem).

so, tomorrow the car gets her routine service and a few tidbits changed (including fuel filter) such as the oil pressure sender and changing the spark plugs. the bloke who services my car is Daniel Deckers. i can't recommend him enough. the only criticism i have of him is that he lives soooo far away (down past campbelltown way) but apart from that, he is very candid, thorough, and actually takes the time and makes the effort to keep your car in good working order. when i get the maximworks headers ceramic coated towards the end of the year, i'll be taking it to D. Deckers to install too

i am expecting the hubcentric rings anyday now. i emailed the seller on ebay on its whereabouts:

"Dear rimsntyres,

Hi there,

I have not received my hubcentric rings yet.

Can you kindly provide me with the tracking number and service?

Thank you"

to which his reply was:

"HI,

THESE WERE SENT 24TH MARCH.

THEY SHOULD BE WITH YOU ANYTIME SOON.

talk about answering the bloody question

next on my list is getting the garage vary front lip repaired and having a few of the scratches on the hard top resprayed

and as abovementioned, the headers and hopefully a piggyback ECU by the end of the year.

a brown davis rollbar is still on the cards but that's on order for Mischa's Christmas present.

i received a PM from les/mx52nv stating that the nopro washer bottles are on its way. time to clean up that engine bay!

will keep you guys posted on how the car service tomorrow goes.

Title: Nuts & Bolts

On the 2nd April 2010 (Good Friday), i downgraded my mono flexes to superstreets. the superstreets had done about 40,000km on them (at most, more like, 35,000km to be precise).

i accidentally overtorqued the long bolt on the front left. this resulted in breaking the long bolt (will try and take a photo of it). the first thing i did was ring up mr. spares i.e. boyracer from the forum. i've purchased lots of odds and ends from lou in the past. no answer. i sms'ed Lou and he said he had one but it couldn't be collected until sunday. so i waited till sunday to collect the bolt (including the nut and 2 washers) and reinstalled the long bolt on easter monday.

gotta love easy fixes.

i also snapped up that autoexe carbon fibre gear knob from Rob E. even though i jumped on it, i stood back and asked myself if it was an impulse buy. i was convinced it wasn't because it was a knob i have been thinking of for quite some time, ever since i laid eyes my eyes on it on my samsung 19" lcd monitor. another reason to buy it (szemen pointed this out) was that it suited my carbon fibre rear view mirror. hi 5. i was never really into carbon fibre at first, but when you come to appreciate the craftsmanship behind it all, and also that thick charcoal weave, it all becomes eye candy. just not too much of it and i'll be happy

will be collecting it today. not sure what to do with the voodoo pearl. i might just hang onto it and build a collection of quality knobs

Right. After having my car serviced today (replacing the fuel filter, spark plugs, oil and oil filter and an inspection), the car seemed to be going great guns after Daniel took her for a spin around the block.

But after i was driving to and from my mates' place to drop off some jack stands he wanted to borrow, the hesitation problems came back. And it appeared the car wouldn't rev over 1,000 rpm until i switched off the car and let her cool down, before i would fire her up again and she would give me some response. Either the cam angle sensor (common problem in nb8b's) or the crank sensor. Argh!

On a brighter note, the oil pressure sender was replaced today. Could not be anymore happier with it The oil pressure gauge now moves when your foot is on the throttle and settles when the car is idling. The part no. from VDO was 360.007 and NOT 320.007.

It was pretty straight forward to install. The only difficulty is getting good leverage to get it out through the right front wheel well.

Also put on my autoexe knob and the gear shifting feels cleaner than the voodoo:



I was very surprised about the quality of the knob. It is actually a 3 piece knob: 1. The shaft. 2. The Collar. 3. The actual knob.



The shaft is firstly screwed on firmly ono the gear stick. The collar is then screwed onto the shaft (not tightly) before the knob is then screwed onto the shaft to meet the collar. I was concerned about the word Autoexe not lining up horizontally, but this was corrected by the collar being adjusted to allow the writing on the knob to sit horizontally. Goodwork, Autoexe.

Came home about 6:20pm and found two parcels waiting for me. Both from forumites. The first one was from blehbear - i had purchased a fuel filter for pretty cheap so i'll hang onto that for my "Mazda Spares" shelf in my garage. I intend on keeping my car for quite some time. Thanks blehbear for his promptness.

Secondly was an express post from Les/MX52NV



It's self explanatory. (But for those who've just joined the forum and have zero clue about what it is, it's a JDM washer bottle. It relocates the washer bottle to the back of the engine bay, making the engine bay looking a lot cleaner. Thanks for organising the group buy, mx52nv

As an aside, I ordered a replacement camshaft angle sensor from http://www.mx5parts.co.uk for $73, delivered to my door. Quite cheap considering Mazda Australia are asking for $150.



The only catch to it is, they have none in stock and it is anticipated they will be receiving another batch in five to seven days, which means another week for it to get here, meaning my car isn't driveable for another two more weeks well, it is driveable, but as long as it's a cool day and i drive like an old asian woman. Big props goes to de Bounce who pointed me in the right direction. Fortunately, the cam angle sensor is a common problem for nb8b's that have clocked up about 100,000 km. Mine is just sitting above that, at 109,xxx km. I will be running other checks that de Bounce has recommended, by hair drying (yes, actually hair drying) the camshaft sensor. Will do so on Wednesday to double confirm that that is the problem before the sensors are received by mx5parts.co.uk.

In the mean time, the nopro washer bottle will go on, some oem mazda nuts will be replacing the old shagged nuts on the endlinks for the sway bars, and i will be refitting the moisture seals inside the door. Much work to do

i wish i could, but it is seriously taking ages for those hubcentric rings to come through from the UK. i emailed the seller yesterday for the tracking number and he replied me at about 12pm, saying that he will email it to me later on in the day. i haven't received anything, so i sent him a polite response saying that i am keenly waiting for them. that should look good for me when it comes round to starting a dispute

i called home before to ask my mum if any small package has come in for me yet. nothing.
