Michelin PP2's superseeded- Now PS3

Postby jules » Wed Mar 10, 2010 12:24 pm

Hey Guys,

I've been ringing around for a set of PP2's for Malibu and was just informed that they have now been superseded by the PS3. http://www.michelin.com.au/tyre/pattern/PassengerCar

Has anyone gone from a PP2 to these tyres and what are your impressions if so?
I can still get a set of PP2's, but I would love to know how the PS3's stack up before I choose.

hmmmmmmmmmmm...............sounds like someone is trying to trick you Jules

PP2 is the Pilot Preceda tyre, their top of the range.

PS2 & 3 are the Pilot Sports, which is one step down from the Preceda

I'd stick with the PP2's mate, I imagine if they moved to a new Pilot Sport, the new Pilot Preceda isn't far away, but you need tyres now.

I would think a PS3 would be too square to use as a tyre!

I just got new tyres today (status quo - BFGs)
While waiting - i spoke to the Michelin Rep.

PP2s are NO longer available.
They are now PS3s Pilot Sport 3

Supposedly 12 - 14% shorter stopping distance in the wet from PP2s.

PS2 are still available for Top end users and oem on Porshstars etc

Unfortunately I am not in Sydney.
Just spoke to Michelin. Apparently they had a run out sale last month

Might just have to barter with my local dealer perhaps.

Sorry, just wanted to add a useless post:

"MICHELIN Pilot Sport is the fastest tyre on the market..."

aaaand how exactly do they test for this? Do they line up different tyres in a row and see which ones move the fastest?
