Google Maps is pretty useful. 8) Use the "Get Directions" link, set your start and finish points for each day, and then play around with different routes by clicking and dragging the mapped route. You can zoom in to check if the roads are sealed. Note that the A5 Lake Highway across the central plateau is well graded dirt for about 20-30km; it's still a fantastic drive though.

Hey mate!

Wow this looks amazing, you have inspired me!

I was originally going to drive my Mx from Sydney and get the ferry over but no need Apple Isle car hire looks great!

Looks like my plan is to go in May for a week - fly there, hire out the mx5 from them for a week and 'do' the Targa Tassie roads camping all the way :D

Cheers,

One thing i think would be good is is we had a registry of mx-5's in tassie ( and smaller states ) where if your going on a trip you could contact the people close and catch up / get advice / even stay with people ( i know i have a few rooms that people are welcome to use for a few nights ). Id love to take a few weeks off and go driving :) but it would be more fun if i had some mx-5 company :). even if only the mx5 club "leaders" had this list and individuals had to give them the ok and details i think it would work a treat.

Noticed some unsealed roads in one of your shots. That looks like Queenstown? Was it unsealed for a long distance? Any other roads unsealed along the way?

That unsealed road was on the way from Arthurs River to Strahan.

Very well kept unsealed road though. There are a few unsealed roads, but none that would cause any real concern unless you where really worried about your paintwork.

I have shown APPLE ISLE this Thread and they where thrilled obviously.
So please mention you found out about them on here.
