Not a mx5 problem but a 1992 astina sp

Postby mid life 5 » Tue Mar 02, 2010 6:38 pm

Hi all, thought i'll try peoples knowledge here. My son just bought he's 1'st car, a 1992 astina sp. Nice condition overall but a couple of small problems.

1 : When you switch the wipers off they don't return to the bottom of the windscreen, they just stop where ever they are. Intermittent, slow or fast they just stop.

2 : The master switch for the power windows, to get the drivers window to go up or down you have to hold the switch (auto up or down don't work) and makes a clicking noise when it reaches its limits. (up or down) All the other windows work fine.

Will changing the wiper motor and window switch fix these problems or should i be looking at something else.

Any help appreciated. Cheers

Problem 1, the parking switch in the motor is faulty, auto elec can fix quite easily.
Problem 2 Sounds like the switch is r/s but get it tested to confirm..

I have a workshop manual for this model if you want to borrow at anytime.
