Most of the horror stories with cheap coilovers relate to cold weather, where they'll seize and some of them explode with pressure. Whilst we don't really have cold weather to those temperatures, I'd be worried at the extreme heat we quite often experience. Do you really want something that is vital to your car's safety and performance that can not withstand weather fluctuations?
Also consider that you'll most likely hate a cheap set after not too long, if they do last. It will be a few hundred dollars down the drain then, when you go searching for something else. Really consider why you want them, there are plenty of other excellent alternatives available on the forums at any time.
You'd be better tracking down a spring and shock or coilover (if you still want them) combo that you want and posting a WTB up. There are plenty of people with nifty combinations in the garage that would be willing to part with them for not too much.
