Hey, I think I screwed up and put this in the wrong section before.. But anyway!
What can people tell me about rb rota wheels? I set on buying something 16", deep dish and with an 8 spoke mini superlite/rs watanabe looks with either black and silver lip or completely flat black.
Basically, what I want to know is if rb rota's are good wheels or not and if anybody knows of any other manufacturers with something similar to what I'm after for a decent price. I've been to tire places in town and nobody can pin anything... They all say this or that looks good (stuff I want) but they can't get them. So I'm almost at braking point and about to lurch out online for the rota's in the next two weeks.
Oh should mention I have a red na6, So I'm looking for dark wheels to go with it. So yeah, if you guys can give me a hand with what I'm after that would be excellent!
The only other rims I was looking at were gold advanti ones but they're discontinued and only available in 17"... I do NOT want to go bigger than 16".

Well, I'm sorry to break the bad news, but Rota's have pretty dodgy reputation in the US. There's a few stories of the spokes bending, or even breaking away from the centre of the rim (I saw picture of a Honda that had brutalised a set of Rotas a year ago...). This mostly occurred in high-power cars, or when people were driving hard.
In all honesty, it depends on what you're going to do with the car. If you just drive normally day to day, and don't intend on doing any sort of motorsport (track, drifting etc), I reckon they should be fine. But if you intend on driving them very hard, I'd be worried about breaking them.
If you care about wheel weight, they're probably bloody heavy. But that matters more to some than others.
**EDIT - By the way, update your location to tell us where you are! Maybe someone who lives close to you might be able to help out with suggestions.

Rota gets a pretty bad rap on teh interwebs but I'll be honest and say I have no personal experience.
Some say they are the worst thing ever and will break, others say they're probably on par with other knock off wheels, others say they're great. If you can't afford the real deal and are genuinely keen, by all means find some and hopefully prove the internet wrong.

Honestly, spend the coin on some quality rims, even on the used market there are plenty of bargains to be had.
Not to mention it might even be cheaper than new rotas.
Apart from the quality point of view.
Another thing is that, rota, copy other manufacturer designs, there is no creativity.
The manufacturers, ie/ Rays, Advan, SSR, BBS, etc, have to do all the hard work in R&D for years, only to be ripped off in a few weeks.
Yes I know copies arep revalnt everywhere. But as a hobby and if you appreciate quality, I would go genuine.
But in saying this, I know some people can't afford the real deal, so at the end of the day its up to you, and what you think is best.

The superlite gtr's are unreal but my god, I can't believe I haven't stumbled upon the Konig rewinds. I'm going to get them both priced next week. I already asked around aboutt he superlites and one of the tire places said he fitted some the morning I asked for under a grand!! Sounds ridiculous to me but eh, I wouldn't complain for that price lol!!!
I'm going to keep researching. I HAVE actually heard a lot of bad things about rota's but not about the rb series, hence the question. They look pretty solid and strong but the only prob is that I'm guessing they're heavy as. I have plenty of time to shop though, I have my priorities still on roll bar, extractors and respray before I get to wheels

I would be happy to have RB's on my car and I like their look much better than the Konigs., but you should have grabbed Juffa's Chaparralls, they were a bargain.
RB's are avalaible in Aust if you do a search on Ebay Aust, but you can bring them in much cheaper than $1000 from 118 Racing in the US
I am in East Geelong and have set Of Watanabe's in 14 inch in my garage if they interest you!

By the way, they're getting sandblasted and then powder coated satin black with a clear coat as we speak, get them back on Wednesday and hopefully on my car with tyres by the end of the week! I was reading through some old posts and noticed you had Toyo's on them before I picked them up, where did you get them fitted? I'm checking around and looking at Lewis Tyre Power in Belmont at the moment but if you can suggest a better place. I think I'm paying $140 or so a tyre

I bought them with the tyres on them and they were middle of the range tyres.I would still go for YOKO'S even if you have to go to C Drives(i am not sure if Sdrives are available in 185/60x14;go to Bob jane and tell them I sent you(may have to mention my car to make sure you get a good deal but it should be under what you have been quoted).
looking forward to seeing the result, although if it had of been a week later i would not have sold you the wheels or Juffa the tyres as i have picked up Lancer for my grandniece(doesn't that make you feel old!!) and they would have been on that!
good luck,
peter

To everyone who has posted here, I thank you all. You've all helped me a lot with this. I'm now booked in tomorrow afternoon for tyres and will be rolling around on a set of RS Watanabe F8's (thanks to PCMX5) with Yokohama C Drives (185/60x14). I got them back from the shop today and my god do they look tough after the powder coat and clear. The clear coat really brought up the shine without being too obnoxious. Now I just need to find time before now and 3pm tomorrow to paint my calipers haha
*EDIT*
When I get the car back (and also find the camera) I'll post a pic on the 'na show off your wheels' thread.

Not thats its your fault Locky, but im sick and tired of seeing this picture when ever some one considers buying rota wheels. i have a set of BBS and a pair of rota rims. Ive had to have the BBS re-rolled twice each rim (total of 8 at about $50-100 each time). On the otherhand ive not had a problem with my rotas.

Hi Josh, Just take care for the first couple of hundred KLMs the Yoko's can be quite slippery from the release goo and will need to wear in a bit.
On my first set I gave it heaps on the first roundabout i came to and had a 'hoon' type slide.

Yeah I'll DEFINATELY keep that in mind so I don't look like a tool doing a u-turn when I leave the place!!! I'm actually contemplating ringing up T&C now or driving down there and find out when they can do this mufler, Be ideal if I got it done tomorrow before the wheels go on. Buuuuuuuut I don't know, might leave that for next week. I just wish Genie would hurry up with those damn headers already!!!!!!
