anyone converted their NA to twin carb?
hi Guys
does anyone have any info on converting the NA6 to take side draft carbs (ie. solex or weber)
there is plenty of people in japan doing it as i think its an easier way to have quad throttles.
many jap engine bay pics have a twin weber setup.
just wondered if there would be gains or just a wank factor.

The answer is pretty simple- carbies are a relic of the past. Would you ditch the discs and replace with drums - it is just a retrograde step.

what's a carbie?
Garrettb16, do you mean carbie manifolds less the actual carburetor interior bits? (jets, float, etc). In other words, just the have them for the individual throttle butterflies?
If so, then I wouldn't think its the cheapest way for an IRTB setup.
AFAIK, large capacity motorbike throttle bodies (1,000cc Suzuki GSX-R for example) and a custom manifold is the cheapest option if you are very handy with cutting and welding tools.
You could always go down the AE101 or AE111 (4A-GE) "4-throttle" setup with a custom manifold.
Check with MX5Plus, they have throttles with a manifold for an NA8.
Im assuming you know what the guys over the US have done?
IF you are reverting back to actual carburation..... Hmmmm.... I can't see any benefits to this, more so, it's extra work cause I can only imagine the hassles you would have with the computer, fuel pump, etc etc.

Lots of Jap race cars with twin carbies, I think it's to fit within a particular category rather than "wank" factor.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

for a road car there is no point for carbies.
fule injection is just a lot more adaptable for a huge amount of diffenernt situations. Thats why its more economical
for race cars the carbies can be tuned more powerfull than fuel injection for a particular rev range say betweeen 6000 & 7000 rpm. It will run crap any where else.

I'm at a loss to understand why a fuel injected car couldn't be tuned for the same performance as a carb car? You have control over the mapping of the air/fuel/spark etc with an aftermarket ECU. I can't imagine you could be more precise than that.

Me too.
On a like-for-like basis (ie IRTB on injection, and 2x properly sized and set up Webers), if the injection can't produce more power and better/similar drieability, it's time to find a new tuner
If you are comparing the carbies to a stock set up, you may as well compare forced induction with atmo induction, for all the good the comparison is.

You would love driving it for 10min, then you would have to get it tuned again.
Irtb's are the way to go, gives you the same noise, and once they are setup you dont have to touch them again.
