14" rim tyres - rec's for wife to encourage the affair!

Postby joni » Fri Feb 05, 2010 8:44 pm

Size - 185/60/14

Well as a reward for finishing off our home reno, I am looking into buying dear husband a set of tyres so he can get back into his Beloved - not me - but the elusive Ms.Track Day

Been 'racing' for four years now

First had Bridgestone Potenza g2s - went ok, happy with them, loved 'em

Then got some Marangoni Versos - really slow, lost 3 secs off time at Winton - frustrating, cracked it

Then Bridgestone Potenza g3s - didn't last as long as old g2s and chewed up at the track on same settings as old g2s

So my forum friends, what would it be that you recommend or would you possibly be annoyed if your wife bought you these items without consulation?

I do know that he is at a loss and not sure what to try next....also he says not much choice in the 14" tyre either as the 15", however he is thinking about Bridgestone re001

Can you please help me in my quest to please Le Husbandio ...

Thanks Joni

He was way too quick on doggy tyres.

I don't know about Ray's Dunlops but Kumho KU36s have been the standout tyre for Standard and Clubman classes this season but only come in 15 inch. Hankook Ventus R-S2 have been very quick too but he might chop those out the same way as his G2s and G3s.

just on that point, there was only a couple tenths of a second between the guys running the kumhos and dunlops at winton this weekend. all running 15's or 16's tho, not 14's.

A tyre 'gift voucher' would provide flexibility if this is still a consideration.
