NA6 VS NA8................. worth the extra??

Fatty wrote:beware, and do your research on na8's advertised online on sites such as carsales... i have seen so many na6's advertised as na8's that it is beyond a joke.
Fatty makes an excellent point. Just yesterday I found a silver 1993 NA in W.A. being advertised in this Carsales dealer advert as a 1.8 litre but I have since confirmed that it is a NA6.

Please spend the time to check the simple engine block number (B6=1.6, BP=1.8 ) or a simple visual check of the Cam Angle Sensor should suffice (CAS on intake side for B6, CAS on exhaust side for BP).

NA6 VS NA8................. worth the extra??

I've got to echo what everyone else is saying: check that it's actually an NA8 before you buy.

When I get my 5, it was advertised as a 1.8, and I didn't bother checking it. I got a nasty surprise a few days later when I discovered it was actually an NA6!

I've fallen in love with it all the same though

It is known that this white car is a 1.6L, and has been in an accident.

Fair enough. I spent no more than ten seconds looking at the ad and merely posted it as a possible solution for the guy. I stand corrected. :)

Brakes are a good quick visual check too. If they look like they belong on a Goggomobile, its a NA6

ok so the 240 is sold so im offically in the market

so i might have enough money to scrape together for a na8

but what would be better NA6 with coilovers/ 15x7or8's and decent tyres (in like 1 month after car is purchased, i hate stock cars :P )

or a pretty much stock NA8 (as ill be scrapin together all spare cash wont have much money for mods for a while)

Well, the NA6 will be better for the first couple of months, but I reckon it's still worth picking up an NA8 and waiting that bit of extra time before modding it.

NA6 VS NA8................. worth the extra??

Postby (Locky) » Sat Jan 30, 2010 7:44 am

ok so i checked out a NA8 yesterday

apparnetly it was a clubman, had a badge on the back and a bistelen badge on the radiator support and a gay wing, but it had aircon.

it was ok, just droe it around an extrended block so couldnt get a real feel for the brakes ect, but power wise it didnt seem that different to the NA6's

overall if the car wasnt red with paint fade and was a little cheaper i probebly would grab that

Badges do not make a Clubman. The only badge I can remember should be on the back, nowhere else. No wing (thigh meet please!)

wing & aircon would have been dealer option & installed later

there aws other Bilstein badges on the car..... but there was no consistence to where they were. since it was an aussie thing they probably just put stickers anywhere.

the important thing is the compliacew plate for a genuine Clubman or was it he tyre chart?
