Our daughter is picking up her first new car today
Is Paint Protection worth the money obviously not from the dealer as they charge more than twice the amount of outside companies.
I have read numerous forum posts from detailers and consumers about the pros and cons of various Paint Protection Products.
Anyone on here have first hand experience or in the detailing industry who can offer advice
I use Klasse All In One and Glaze on our SP23 and MX5 and it lasts 12 months without any problems but both cars are garaged and parked under cover at work. Our daughters car is parked in the driveway and in the open at work so it is exposed to the elements 24 hrs a day. She will be moving out of home soon so I won't be polishing it for her.
We are looking for something which will last as long as possible, some companies suggest a 12 monthly inspection/topup, others 2 years and some 5 to 6 years.
Regards
Kym

Paint Protection ?
Usual reply here is, do it yourself and save hundreds. Most of us use Meguiars or Mothers or any of the other Top Shelf products. IMO, "paint protection" as offered by dealers is simply a way of them recovering some of the profit margin that they might have bargain away. It's a rip-off.

Paint Protection ?
My mum bought a second hand nissan pulsar for $17K (bad enough) but then she got herself talked into paint protection and was taken for $800!
She thought she would never have to look after the paintwork so a few months went by and some birds decided to nest in her garage above the car ...... I saw the car covered in bird poop when I visited and screamed at her as to why she had not washed it off or removed the birds nest ....... she said "I have paint protection so I don't need to clean it off"
Bird poop = 1
Paint Protection = 0

paint will last as long as the car- just wash it regularly and polish it from time to time. Check any car yard where vehicles have been prepared for sale- most look pretty good because materials - ie plastics and modern paints last well. If one is not inclined to wash or polish there are little businesses in shopping centres who will do it for you at a reasonable cost.
