Thanks guys for such a great drive. Couldn't have asked for a better run. Perfect weather and road conditions, minus the odd camry. Plus, no crashes, no tow trucks giving lifts home and no speeding tickets are all indications of a successful event. It was a great way to meet some fellow MX-5 enthusiasts and quite spirited drivers. One lesson I learnt today is that the SE deserves much better tyres.

Thanks all for making some random newbie feel very welcomed. I'll definitely be in for the next meet-up.

i'm glad everyone had a ball. had a surprisingly good turn out which i was pleased about (at last count, 13 mx5's; an na6, a few na8's, nb8a, nb8b, SP, SE, nc1 and nc2). the weather held up quite well also. thanks for everyone who attended toda, and hope you all enjoyed yourselves.

That was a fantastic day, gents. All thanks to Sliq for organising the run. Definitely count me in for future events!
I haven't had my MX5 since November, and this is the first time I've taken it out and really worked it. And as much as I loved it before, it really did impress me all the more.
Plus, having dríven with a bunch of guys from a differnet forum - not naming names, but they were a bunch of dickheads on the road - it really is great to know that there are car clubs out there that don't get dumber as the group gets bigger.

I also wish to say thanks ,sliq. A great day . I also enjoyed meeting fellow mx5 drivers . I am off to gold coast 29th to do some livestreaming work . Normally I fly but this time i might fly mx5. I think I might use that Putty rd to connect into the New England hwy. are there also some good roads suitable for the "5" further north to help with the boredom of straight boring roads. Any suggestions. possible cut back to the pacific hwy some where.

I'm not too sure where the Putty Rd/Old Pac Hwy leads to, but I go north through/past Newcastle, and then along Buckets way and Thunderbolts way to Armidale, then up the New England from there. There is a thread in the Great Drives or whatever it's called section on this forum. title of the thread is Bucketts way...

So many choices up north. Virtually any of the roads that cross the Great Dividing Range are worth a look. And they've got some really cool names!

Thunderbolts Way (linking Gloucester and Walcha)
Oxley Highway (linking Walcha and Port Macquarie)
Waterfall Way (linking Armidale, Dorrigo and Bellingen)
Gwydir Highway (linking Glenn Innes and Grafton)
... and another road further north that I can't quite remember but it was really really twisty for quite a long way (Kyogle Rd perhaps? Between Kyogle and Murwillumbah)
