Ants have a place - I'd prefer it isn't in my car
Does anyone have any good suggestions for ridding my car of an ant infestation?
They appear to have set up home somewhere (or perhaps multiple somewheres) in the body work of my 5 - door trims, rear soft top trim, chassis rails - all appear to provide wonderful covered thoroughfares for ants to traverse the length and breadth of their universe, which just happens to be my car.
Aside from hiring a storage unit for a day and setting off a bug bomb with my car locked inside, does anyone have any good suggested solutions?

Try removing the bolts holding the front guards onto the sill, and the clips/screws for the plastic inner liner. You'll probably find a few handfuls of dirt, grime and ants between the front quarter panel and the inner body. I did!

I'm with Guran, my front guards were both home to a large colony of ants. Since I cleared out the leaves and twigs they called home, my car has been pleasantly ant free.

These seem to be everywhere else - given I have hosed out the inner guards a number of times. The little buggers crawl out of the interior trim, out of the soft top and rear trim, the door rubbers, the doors, with windscreen seal - everywhere. henc my thoughts of a closed garage and a bug bomb.

stop storing your doughnuts in the door trims?
or on a slightly more helpful note but not really at all useful, park on four saucers with water in them
you could have said grime in bottom of doors all sorts of insects would find it atractive being warm and dry, oh and red!
maybe get some surface spray and inject some of that into your doors and under the dash/behind the seats?
Drive it faster so they cant hold on would be a good way too

I'm onto my second dose of ant rid, having found a new infestation this morning. The tree in our driveway drops pollen onto my car, and that seems to be what is attracting the ants.

I'm with you! My ant infestation seems to have ramped up again, and I'm starting to blame the adjacent hakea tree and it's pollen. The tree's half dead anyway, so it gives me an excuse to rip it out and replace with something better to look at.

Ours is a Tibuchina. To think the QLD club does a run to see these damn things blossoming - all they have to do is come to my driveway, and they can help clean the never ending stream of buds, leaves, flowers and pollen from my car. Pretty my A$$!!!!!!!

Then he would be constantly patching all the tiny holes in his roof from the anteater's spines!
