at 11:30pm on the dyno the injectors ran out of juice !!!
so out they came and in went some bosch 550's and resisters as well......an hour later and on with the tune.....
No boost controler......just running actuator pressure (7psi) the car made 121 rwkw....... i was hoping trent had a bleeder valve there that i could throw on, but alas he had sold the last one the day before....so no extra boost for me
I'll have to go back once i get one. It has transformed the car...... its like driving a go kart that is on steroids
But its not the hand full that i want it to be

Yeah 7psi is the figure that a lot of people say is "safe" on the stock bottom end i've seen people with a good setup and tune run 12. Perhaps for the sake of the engine run lower boost around town and only wind it up when you need it to be angry.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

It depends on how well its tuned, my friend ran 14psi all day with stock 1.8 motor and same turbo. Made 160wkw from memory, power figures also depend on the dyno, lightyear your numbers look pretty high.

7psi is definately fine for daily driving..... but i def need more power if its going to be a competative street class slider.
I also picked up a pair of 8kg rear springs that i will throw in for drift track days. That should help with even tyre wear and slide ability.
Oil temps have gone up 10 deg on the highway guess anb oil cooler is on the cards sooner than i expected
14 psi sounds a bit hecktic for a stock motor.....i used to run 18 through my stock sr20's, but they had metal head gaskets installed.... and sr's have the oil squirters under the pistons.....I've never seen inside a BP 1.8 so i'm a little uncertain as to how much they can take before they let go.... I'm thinking 7 for the street and 12 for the track atm.....But i will let the knock sensor be the judge of that

The only way to find out for sure is to have a race. I don't really car about the numbers on the dyno, as long as the car has a good tune and is running at it's best for the setup i have.

He daily drove it like that for quite a while and the engine was fine, he even tracked it. It all comes down to tuning. yeah we have oil squirters too. I thought the 1.8's did have metal gasket? The track will be much more severe on the motor than the street so why not just run both 12psi, if the tune is safe its safe, if it doesn't blow up on the track its not going to on the street.
I find on the street to drive normally around town you don't even have to go over 3krpm (it won't go over about 7psi anyway), you will out accelerate most cars if you shift at 4k and leave them for dead if you go over that, so really your boost control on the street is controlled by what RPM you shift at, I think run whatever boost you run on the track (4k+) and run that on the street and you won't notice much difference driving normally but you have the power there when you plant your foot which is always helpful.

Of course dyno numbers are just an estimate. What really matters on a track is drivability and control.

Its actually very hard to keep out of boost when accelerating, even the slightest amount of throttle will produce some boost, but its very welcoming as you get stacks of extra low down torque in an otherwise gutless engine. Although I agree with the wear and tear, but that really depends on how well wazman can control his power, if you're going around all day boosting over 7psi then you're gonna 1 get busted, 2 crash, or 3 go broke very quickly with fuel bills, so those things will be the boost control =P. The odd boost run here and there shouldn't hurt the car, one track day will be a billion times more wear than anything you can do on the street, if you make the car overheat on the street the you've gotta be going extremely quick, I've never been able to do it and my car overheats on the track within 3 laps.
SOrry if its in the thread somewhere but what boost controller are you running? I just got an eboost street which holds 2 settings, so if you want run the 7psi and 12psi but probably not necessary, I might run a 10 and a 15 or a 12 and 15 or 10 and 12 depends on how tuning and heating goes but most likely leave it on high.

I am just running a bleeder valve as of yesterday. Trent at Status re tuned the car and here are the results. The red line is my old tune on 7psi and the Yellow is the new tune
160kw at the wheels on 10 psi
The car skates 3rd ! Feels better than my old nissan 180sx that had 220kw atw ......without the lag of the big turbo. Super happy with it.
