Does anyone make a good grille for my SE, little bit worried of possible damage from stones out on the open road.
Cheers,
David

See http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/index.php/cPath/45_49
Shipping is quite cheap and fast.
I have the Lockwood Stainless Woven Mesh Grille on my SE.
See also http://www.miatamania.com/Shop/ViewProd ... exID=73837. The Aussie dollar is pretty strong right now and US prices are cheape than UKprices. If I were to buy now I'd go with the black or silver MazdaSpeed grille (902-746 or 902-791) - you will need to remove your car's "Baby teeth" (tie-own hooks) for these grilles though (not too difficult, just 3 bolts each).
I've used both these places for my puchases and can vouch that their service is excelllent.

I like the Woven Mesh design. I had one of the Techno Grill (which was a woven mesh design) on my SP before I fitted the SE body kit.
With the SE body kit, the normal NB8B grills do not fit. You'll need to get one specifically for the SE (or Mazdaspeed as they're call everywhere else).

I made mine.
Made a template from cardboard
Used some vent mesh from Supercheap (enough to make 3 grills) also comes in a range of colours.
Some rubber edging from Clark Rubber
2 zip ties to hold the edging on.
Used some existing bolts near the baby teeth to fix it.
Works like a charm.
Cost less than $60 with leftover mesh.

Not strictly true.
I have the Lockwood grille (see earlier post in this forum). This grille comes with 3 clips for the top and two for the bottom. The bottom 2 clips cannot be used on the SE due to the different spoiler shape however the spoiler holds securely with just the top clips and is wedged firmly in place on the bottom since the grille has a rubber surround around it. If you look at de Bounce's photo for a reference, my grille actually wedges within the mouth of the spoiler whereas his sits behind it.
My grille can easily be ripped out by grabbing through the baby teeth holes and giving a decent pull so, for my own peace of mind to prevent theft (or to make it at least a little bit difficult), I drilled 2 holes in the underside of the MX5 Plus front number plate holder, just in front of the where the grille lines up, and zip tied the grille to them. The zip ties cannot be seen fron the front unless you're at ground level and look under the number plate.
If I didn't already have the grille, now that I have seen de Bounce's DIY grille, that's what I'd be doing since it looks pretty "schmick".
