Oil on Spark Plug thread?

Postby Insurgence » Sun Jan 03, 2010 1:02 pm

Hi engine experts,

I just changed my spark plugs, and noticed on #3 cyl (2nd closes to driver) that the thread was coated in engine oil.

Didn't appear to be oil on the tip or the top of the plug...

Is changing the top engine gasket the corrective action?

Notes:
- I noticed have had some oil usage (from H to L for 6 months???)
- I when i had the 100,000 service I never did the top gasket.
- Was not coated in oil during previous services (after several after the 100k one)

Thank you in advance!

Spot on.
Be careful when you are tightening the cam cover bolts cause if you over-torque them, they can easily elongate and/or snap.

Cheers!

I will use a torque wrench (used one last time too).
