Buzzy sound when backing off occurs at about 3000rpm. Stops as revs drop below about 2800rpm. Does anyone know where it comes from and how to stop it ? I have a 1994 NA8 .

Generally less of a problem on the NA8, but if it was an NA6 I would say initially have a look at the mountings of the exhaust header heat shield in the engine bay as they break with time. Alternatively, there are other heat shields along the exhaust system which can also cause a buzz around the revs you mention. From memory on the NA6 & NA8 (I think), there's a heat shield located between the catalytic converter & the underside of the car, as well as a heat shield between the bullet shaped muffler/ resonator & the underside of the car, in line with the rear wheels. Particularly the latter can be a problem as the tabs on the shield that fit under the clamps at either end of the shield break, which allows the shield to vibrate at revs. Visual examination doesn't always work, so its best to actually test the security of the tabs.
