Coffee/light dinner. Mt Cootha, this Friday.
Where: Mt Cootha cafe up top
When: Friday 22nd Jan, 7:30pm.
Park road is gonna be packed, and I assume the same with Harry's.
What say we meet in the carpark at the bottom of Mt Cootha, opposite Botanic Gardens at 1900 and make our way up around 1930.

Nice idea Andrew, and I would try to be in if possible, but work has me committed most nights of the week...

Surely somewhere like La Dolce would be much nicer - great coffee, great bird watching, euros and exotics, and did I mention the bird watching?

Yeah, Harry's is a place where we can park easily and keep an eye on our cars.
As for bird watching... yeah, you guys can keep to that, I'm interested in chicks

Chicks are pre-pubescent birds mate, are you sure you don't want to edit that last post of yours?!

So besides NMX516, no one is interested in a monthly get-together?
Oh well, can't say I haven't tried.

I'd be keen - just not Harry's - I can get my fare share of bogans every Friday night over here at Acacia Ridge - they take over the local Elizabeth Street shops carpark in their masses - to be truthful - its a muscle and old school weekly get together, a bit like Harry's was, but it also comes with its fair share of the Falcodore crowd..... although I though I did see a gorgeous old Porsche pull in there two Fridays ago to add some class.

Ok, thanks Mike.
I am open to suggestions.
It's just that we've been uhmming and ahhing about setting something up for more than a year, and Harry's seem to finish off each conversation as no other place appears suitable.
There's a coffee shop at West End, where the Coles is, that would be good.
Where else.....

I'd be keen for this, if we can nail down a location. I haven't been near Harry's for a long while, but I thought it quietened down when they changed ownership a while back?

Hey Andrew,
Just organise a evening, those who want to make it work will turn up.
I'm pretty sure our Melbourne and Sydney cousins had the same problem to start with, it will take time to catch on, but I'm sure it will catch on.
Count me in, just don't start it too late, us old fellas need our sleep

If there was anything organised anywhere I would do my best to be there weekly. I'm not familiar with Harry's but I can say that while Park Rd would be a nice spot it would be very less than ideal for parking. I'm not that familiar with the area but what about somewhere in the Kangaroo point area? I know there's a restaurant/cafe under the Storey Bridge there...

forget about getting a park under or around the Story Bridge mate, on ANY night.
Kim (my wife) & I did a little research on this subject some time back to try & isolate a spot that would suit north & southside people & came up with the Coffee Club at Cannon Hill, reasonable parking, good access for north & southies & good quality coffee & food...............just a suggestion.
Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often
