I would have been very interested if you'd posted a week ago haha, just bought some 550cc S4 RX7 Turbo injectors.

Did the vac lines today then tried to start the engine, with the stock ecu. It should be able to idle on that even with the kit installed.

Unfortunately, it won't start. It cranks over nicely on the starter motor, no bearing knocking or anything, you can hear the air coming out the dump pipe going foomp foomp foomp foomp foomp (but quickly). It has spark and I could smell petrol when I pulled the plug out.

Could the timing be way off? We put a new timing belt in and it went on in the same position as the old one.

I also want to try changing the cam angle sensor for the one from my old engine but I don't know how to remove it.

Are my fuel lines on right?

It started! :D Swapped the fuel lines around and it started right away... I'd forgotten that the fuel pressure regulator has a one way valve so hooking it up backwards will bring things to a screaming halt

Sounds a bit tappety though, and quite a bit of smoke started coming off the exhaust manifold, but I guess it has new gasket sealant between the turbo and the manifold and probably oil and grease from dirty hands on there as well

Got it running on the Autronic the other day. Just need to chase down an oil seep and a coolant drip (both verrrrry slow) and then I just need a new exhaust and its good to go

Thought I'd gotten rid of the leak but then it appeared to come back. Now has a 2.5 inch exhaust with a highflow cat and a straight-through muffler

Congrats Adam, it must have really transformed the car.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I really can't tell atm, it has 3/4 of a tank of 95 octane from before I cooked the old engine with half a bottle of octane booster in it atm, I need to get rid of that and put a fresh tank of 98 octane in before I can get the afr checked and any changes needed made to the tune. Not giving it too much load until then.

I drove it home tonight after finally getting my housemate to move his camper trailer so I can get my car under the carport again, temp gauge didn't go over half but I need to check the idle and timing I think, it was idling a bit low when warm and sounded like the rougher engine vibrations were making something resonate.

I did notice that something seems to be catching the front left wheel on right turns and it didn't do that before. Cooler piping is well out of the way, might have to get it on stands to have a look

I got the wheel alignment done today and had them raise the coilovers to minimum legal height, it still looks quite low though, and lower at the back than the front...

Booked it in for a tune on the 16th and ordered a Walbro from Mania, so hopefully I should have that fitted before the tune. Just going to leave the stock injectors in it and have the tune checked and tidied for low boost as I want to look into seeing if I can get it to pass the emissions test like Bark's car before putting the big injectors in and winding in some more boost.

I'm pretty happy with it atm, definitely going to take the NA BD bar out though, I cant see anything with the interior mirror

My car sits slightly lower at the back, was that way when I got it (tein struts and springs) I quizzed the guy who did my alignment about changing the perch height at the back and he said it makes it a bit more stable under brakes and was fine.

Ah, that kind of makes sense. I still think its too low at the back though, too much camber
