So, woke up to find a note on the table saying that the car couldn't make it up someone's driveway and that the broken part of the lip was in the boot. -- edit: Found out where it happened. Caltex's driveway. which is flat as, I have no farking idea how my dad broke the lip there. Annoyed, not even a "sorry" either. -- Still not sure of the exact story, I've had absolutely no problems with the lip myself, but then again I take things like driveways slowly. The lip has scraped but not actually *hit* anything before.
I guess I will have to glass it up to repair it, with the help of a friend...

Well, the rest of the day was fitting BadBong's side skirts to his NB8A. Went pretty well, but took a farking age. I'm sure he'll post pictures.
How low is your car? (centre of the wheel hub to top of the guard and ground to lip would be nice )
I'll measure from the centre of wheel tomorrow. Ground to lip was like 12cm. I think my dad just went way too fast, even though he said he was "going slowly".
What an absolute blast. Had 7 runs, the first of which one of the more experienced blokes, Lindsay took me out around the track to get me acquainted. Wakefield is great, there are so many possibilities for different lines to take had me experimenting throughout the day.
So, despite the timing ƒü¢k ups (see below), the day was run really really well. I could have got in another session but I was busy having my lunch - salad roll & ice cream. Delicious.
Met some nice people - most of which I don't remember their names. Camped in the garage next to Dweezle and his better half - Dweezle seemed to be ripping it up in his NA6!
The car ran pretty consistently throughout the day, no problems from what I could see. The RE001s held up pretty good too, I kept them at 35psi on each corner and they seemed to grip decently, but still slid a bit - I under-steered slightly on the uphill section, and could over-steer coming out of the fishhook - I just tried to adjust my throttle/braking to compensate but those were the main parts where I was sliding.
Unfortunately I was running extremely late so had to fuel up in the middle of the day. Came back and I was running with some guys who were running sub 1:20 laps, needless to say I was overtaken pretty quickly
I tried to take video throughout the day but only managed to capture 2 of my 7 sessions. Total lack of camera skill = fail. I'll take a picture and write up the rig I used in another post when I have time. But needless to say, it worked pretty well.
Being my first track day, I just had to purchase the CD of all the photos taken of me & my car, so I'll have them uploaded when they arrive in the mail.

#1: no timing - this was a first timers session #2: 1:29.61 1:27.23 1:26.92 1:29.60 #3: 1:26.24 1:25.06 1:24.80 1:24.04 #4: they apparently didn't time our group for this session - god knows why. but I overtook two slower cars, was a lot of fun. #5: 1:26.16 1:25.18 1:24.39 <they lost a time? everyone had 4 laps> #6: 1:27.45* 1:23.92 1:25.69* 1:24.16
* on this last run, the (relatively) slow laps are the ones where I was overtaken, dunno how much time I'd lose but it seems that by the end of the day I was really sitting around 1:24 flat. Hopefully next time I can improve

Looks like the MX-5 Club had you in the wrong car. Assuming I've got the right one (#35), you were listed as having a 1989 MX-5 in Class 1 (unmodified). Still that's not quite as bad as the NC (#24) and NB (#41) that were entered in Class 1 (stock NA).

Haha yep. I was #35.
Oh yeah, if anyone is kind enough to watch my video (if you go to youtube you can watch it in high def) and tell me where I can go faster I'd much appreciate it!
Best advice you can take right now is start using all the track. Your still finishing up on the inside of the circuit in most places. Your also turning in with throttle still and not letting the car push itself to the outside of the circuit which is why your getting so much tyre squeal from the front on turn 10. Should always brake, turn while releasing the brakes so the cars still biased to the front but not entirely. Then soon as your done turning in start applying throttle and drive the car out to the edge of the track smoothly. Once you start doing that your times will tumble and tumble down... mine still do everytime I go out there and I've been going for about 3 years now

Bought a Sparco Sprint V. Fitted it tonight, getting the seat in was a sinch, used the original rails, drilled one hole on each rail, perfect.
Then spent the next three to four hours struggling with the bloody seatbelt stalk. Might opt for a NA6 style one. I've ended up just bolting in the stalk (even though its really short) straight into the transmission tunnel.
