NEED HELP with Assembly or possible dodgy day - Sydney

Postby BadBong » Wed Nov 25, 2009 10:43 pm

Alright guys... putting my neck out there:

I live in a unit with a secuirty car space that doesn't have sufficient lighting and no power source. Furthermore, because i've never owned a car that requires any modifications, I barely own a set of tools that's only enough to fix the occasion household handy-man job.

I'm changing jobs atm and I've got the entire week free next week to put together the following parts that have been lying around for weeks now:

- Front strut bar
- Side skirts
- GV Front lip
- Boot lip (wouldn't really call it a spoiler)
- Rear mud flaps
- Mazdaspeed seats with rails

The GV lip and mud flaps will be painted at some point early next week and the seats will also arrive by mid week.

My question is - is there anyone out there kind enough to show me how to put these things on my car? (NB8A). I don't have the tools nor the expertise to do any of it (maybe except for the mud flaps).

If someone has the space to host a dodgy day late next week or on the weekend of the 5th, that'll be great. Otherwise, is there anyone who's free who might be able to help?

I live in the Lower North Shore in Sydney and I'm happy to drive to anywhere in Sydney (not quite sure how i'll carry the seats though...).

More than happy to bring a case of beer, do coffee runs, order pizza etc etc - all on me.

Thanks in advance :)

Same predicament for me, though the GV lip should be easy to install if it was as easy as my NA one.

If you have a drill (ours is somewhere in the garage - moved recently so no idea where it is) then I can swing by and help you out one night (I'm in Cremorne)

I've been tempted to host a dodgy day to fit my exhaust.

Unfortunately, my dodgy mechanic (Rodd) has injured his shoulder and can't do anything useful for a few months...

Alright I'll have a look around and get back to you - I have power but not much (need to run about 10m of extension cord) and pretty poor lighting.

Thanks mate, appreciate it.

Otherwise, I was thinking of taking the car to a 'garage' but they'll charge me per hour... :| I'd rather pay someone else a reasonable price to do it all (or even better, show me how)

If I can throw a few words of advice

When you remove the old seat, there may be a cable running from the seat belt clip to under the middle of the seat, you will need to disconnect it at the plug and you may need to swap these across with your other seats.

Put the rear bolts in first and leave them loose, you may need some help to move the seat about to line up the second bolt.

Then you may need to release the seat (lever at the front) and move/twist the seat around a bit until the front mounts line up with the holes.

When you're all happy tighten it all up

It will all make complete sense when you look at it.

and it will save a lot of sweat and cursing when the "flowering" bolts won't go in.

In a recent edition of Grand Designs our 50 something host the elegant Kevin was astounded that 2 home builders were able to get perfect strangers to make ram earth walls in exchange for some tucker and a thankyou- I shared his bemusement.

Thanks Spy, it all makes sense now.

I'm sure it'll make even more sense once my seats have arrived mid-next week.
