good point Biggus D. I somehow doubt the wife will see it that way
but 1 step closer
eventually All i will have to do is just bolt on the turbo intercooler & ECU & it will all be done. Everything else has been upgraded & strengthened LOL.

maybe i'll just chipp away at it litlle bit at the time. one day she'll just forget to say no.....I hope thats the day i have some cash & something is available.

ampz...you didn't confuse me....i did that myself. I re-read your post from the other night. Its crystal clear in the post.

Changing a petrol pump i can handle. when it comes to a bug hunt in the electrical system is when I panic.

Well Boagsy. Its been running fine for the last 4mths. I did get a new pump, but haven't had the chance to install it. Just dreading to have to take out the roll bar really. But once you're at it , It would probably only take 20min. So you could call me somewhat lazy. If my Pump goes......I hope its near home.

Patchy's stopped dead.

Postby StanTheMan » Mon Nov 23, 2009 9:24 pm

Right so I never replced that fuel pump. I still have it under the house.....somewhere.

so I had a problem with the windscreen wiper motor. It stopped working.

so I was under the dash changing fuses & replaced the offending one. I have no idea wht fuse goes where but there is heaps of empty spots. but the wiper motor started working again.

But the car will not start now.

scenrio 1 is that the fuel pump has given up the ghost.

scenario 2 is that possebly another fuse has blown which drives the fuel pump?
there is 1 fuse under the dasg which is a bit more solid heavy duty type I've pulled it out & put it back. what does it drive?

however

I tried ampz tick with the F/P & GRD....ignition on.....no hissing

checked the spark plugs. Dry.

Engine fuse? Replace all of them one by one till it starts. 99% odds it is a fuse.

That image supplied by Juffa is pretty useful. It helped me out massively. thanks for the link

We had a club member have their fuel relay die on Sunday, you might have the same problem. I'm pretty sure that big black relay top right is the relay for the fuel pump, you need to jump the power diagonally across 2 of the 4 points (sorry cant remember which pair it is).

Since you've already tried to trigger it from the diagnosis port without luck then if the fuel pump comes on then it'll be a dead relay.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

That's tops.
But unfortunately.....not the fuse.

I'll try Okibi's trick tonight.

My money is on a fuse feeding the adaptronic.
Are you able to talk to it via the laptop?
If so, see if cranking the engine gives you an rpm reading on the adaptronic live guages.

Give us a call I have some time tonight.
Huh?

right Patchy is back in action.

A huge thank you to ampz......who is just a wizzard.

Long story cut short.

it wasn't the fuel pump. It wasn't any relay, it wasn't the alarm fuel cut out, it wasn't a fuse & it wasn't the adaptronic.
It was a dodgy loom which plugs into the fuel pump.

It now has a temporary fix. It will have to be replaced but basically the 12 volt wire had to be pushed back in.
