I need proof a Sparco Spring Jnr complies with the AS
I went to get a mod plate for my rollbar and seat, and the guy needs some proof that the sparco spring jnr complies with the relevant australian Standard. The seat itself has the FAI markings, but not the AS ones. Anyone know where I can get a letter or something?

There was a very similar thread a few months ago. I think you need to call Revolution Racing as they may have the proof you need.

I think Revolution Racing is the official importer so they may have needed to prove 'compliance' when importing.

I was under the impression that the FIA standards are a superset of the Australian ones.

FIA standards surpass ADR's, therefore anything which meets FIA standards is legal in Australia. The engineer should know that, further more he should be easily able to confirm that himself.

The engineer is an older fellow. I need to get a letter showing that while the seat meets the FIA standards, it also complies to ASxxx before he will sign off for it. That or find a different engineer. Another guy wanted $140 more! It's only for the seat and the Rollbar, so I have no idea why he's more than double the price.

Contact MX5Plus then - see link at bottom of page - they're in Brisbane, but would be worth making the journey up on a Saturday. They certified mine without any hassles and are well aware that FIA standards are suitable for Australian road cars too. I'm sure they'll be able to do it for a reasonable cost too, especially if you've been quoted with differences of $140!!
Edit: they may not cert your roll bar, depending on what type it is, but they can do the seat if it is mounted properly.

Since I bought the seat off lil red rocket, then it'll be your old passenger seat.
The bar is a TB, and I have spoken to them so I know MX5 plus will plate it, but if I can get it done locally it'll be much easier and save me a long drive on a boring straight road. I have the number for the sparco importer now so I'll give them a call in the morning and see what they can do.

Are you sure on that? I know of a couple of motorsport friendly engineers that might disagree as I don't believe the ADR's reference the relevant FIA standards. But this is all here say, I would love to find out for sure.

I now have a letter stating the seat complies to the relevant ADR's. It was by a third part certifier. That should get everything sorted.

Well as I understand it, the FIA requirements/standards are stricter/tighter/higher than the ADR's are. So any seat meeting FIA standards would exceed the ADR's, therefor easily comply with them. I'm no engineer, but this is what my engineer told me, and why my FIA approved seat was easily passed for installation in my car - my engineer would not have passed it if he did not consider that it should be passed.
