Just woundering if anyone is running widened steelies... I know its very "trendy" in the euro scene but just thought it may be cool for a MX5.

not really. way to heavy for a small sports car. And way too many ricers who wouldn't be seen in steelies.

lots of club rally entrants use wider or changed offset steelies. as they are next to nothing to buy and mod.

I was just thinking about this the other day.. I was thinking about getting some 15's from a honda and widening them enough to fill the guards..
it would add a few kilos though.. but I think they can look pretty cool
Not mx-5's but you get the idea..

I reckon stock width steelies look pretty poor. It makes it look like its a temporary wheel, or its using space saver wheels.
But when widened, wih the right offset they look tough!!The dark grey golf looks soo awesome! I'd love to see what they look like on an mx5.

The widened ones do look a lot better, but I dont mind the stock ones either.. I've been looking for some mx-5 steelies but so far i've only found 1 for sale on ebay.uk.. (wonder what he did with the other 3..?!?)
I read honda civic steelies would fit but the hub is slightly bigger..which might not be a good thing..
..so the search continues..
as MXHEVN mentioned..here's some Diamond Racing Wheels on a tough looking little fella..

just buy some hub rings.
that's what is used on alloys where the centrebore is a bit too big, not 100% on if they can be used on steelies though?

For the road you can compromise a little and get a heavier rim for the sake of looks (I have a set of 17" 5 zigens that use to live on the NB), problem is they'll tramline and bump steer, you loose some of the 'fun' of driving an MX-5.
Most MX-5s are slow and under powered, the handling is what makes up for the frustration if having very little power, but if you take away the great handling your left with the equivalent of a Hyundai excel.
It makes it difficult to find a set of wheels that suit your MX-5, suit your taste and still weight the same or less than the factory wheels.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I don't mind it though, but maybe too much of a good thing...
