Ah!!! the curse of Red Clubmans

Sounds like you may have a sticky Hydraulic lifter, mine does this after sitting for 8 or 9 weeks. Goes away after a run , then comes back for the next 2 or 3 engine stops and starts then dissapears completely.

Might be time to change your oil and filter and maybe a good engine flush.

yeah right, makes sense!

well, mine is a weekend car...if I call it that!
But yeah - It'll sit for maybe a week or two, might take it out and thats when it happens.

I actually changed the oil and filter a few weeks back (before my EC round) and after I changed it, there was no noise, however a week or so later once I drove it, the noise came back.

so have you had your lifters replaced?

Its a really annoying noise that I clinch at....but it doesnt effect performance, still drives hard!!

thanks for the reply Terry!

cheers,
Chris

Chris,

Haven't done the lifters, too bloody lazy.

You don't need to replace them just pull out your cams, remove each one, one at a time so they stay with their original cam lobe,
strip and clean and refit. Zoom Zoom did a write up on how and what to do a while back.

Usually I don't leave the Clubby for that long between drives, but Scooter has been out being sorted out so poor old Clubby gets left behind!!!!

Next year I'm like you and AM going out to play with the other mad bastards.

Terry

ps, it won't hurt the engine just f**ken annoying and noisy.

Nice one Terry,

I'll try and find that article!!

Yeah mine wasnt being dríven due to 6 weeks between supersprints and was busy most weekends to take her out!
I guess now I have an excuse to drive it every weekend so there is no noise hehe

But I'll certainly look into to the lifters and fingers crossed its it!

And yes, bring on the racing with the mad guys hahaha

cheers!
Chris!!
