I couldn't stand MX5's, until I drove one.

Welcome to the addiction
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Not that I had a disliking to convertible, I just thought they were unsafe and on some very weird looking with the soft top up (not a problem with the MX5).
PS. I love HDR photos [your last two pix]

Welcome to the forums!
The car you are using as a refferal is actually known as one of the "standard" cars in america.
It was one of the "Miatas" that created the whole slammed appeal in the U.S

mmm! Standard miatas are nice. Slammed, Equips with low offset, GV lip. Needs to be Chaste White though I'm not too sure if the RS*R is part of the standard though :S

having bought a car that was "slammed" i spent weeks getting it to the natural height, because it drove like a go-kart no suspension to speak of and was on bump stops, it may look cool but hard to live with, this is only my opinion as I am an old fart and don't like jumping into incoming traffic when i hit a pot hole.
I'm sure i will get points stating the other side, but in my opinion, there has to be expert delivery of ride height balanced with comfort, most of the cars I have seen "slammed" must have the latter lacking.

Had a few convertibles before the first MX5, but they all had terminal drivetrain issues (front wheel drive, arghhhh).
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

Ride comfort and slammed definitely do not go hand in hand. Handling also gets thrown out the window as well. The US seem to be able to pull it off day to day, they must have silky smooth roads. Its definitely not feasible in Australia, but MX5s sure look stunning when down low.

the majority of that group are just misguided. They'll flame you for suggesting so as well. I mean they are just a bunch of ricers. Most of them also expose the stock cam gears. The whole scene over there seems like the Honda fanboy scene over here.
On that note. I originally bought the car for cheap convertible.
