My New Engine - Video Up

Postby daffyflyer » Mon Oct 19, 2009 5:38 pm

Ok, so after some... issues with the last engine - some to do with my dodgy rebuild and also things like the fact that the bores worn (40kkm or so after a pro rebuild :S), the timing tensioners were screwed and a few other things i had screwed up - Went to carco for a proper rebuild.

This is what i got.

Decked Block
Rebore
New Pistons (Russell Knows what, stock comp, stronger than stock but not forged.)
Spool Forged Rods (as before)
Head Ported and Valves Unshrouded
Bottom End Balenced
Copper Puck Clutch
Tighe 805C Cams
Adjustable Cam Gears
New Valve Stem Seals, Gaskets, Bearings, Rings etc.

All up cost about $5k (good deal, but still *gulp*)

Motor feels bloody fantastic though, idle is a bit lumpy (sounds like a 13b still :p) but very smooth on the revs.

Feels about stock up to 3.5k or so (doesn't SOUND stock though!) and goes properly hard from 4K to 7.2K

Going back to get the wolf fitted and tuned in a few months with the hope of picking up some torque, and seeing if there is any power hiding above the limiter :)

Still if anyone is considering a worked N/A motor, this is a good way to go, and still allows me to go turbo/super later on.
