Autoglym wax

Hi.
I bought some high definition wax made by Autoglym from Autobarn today, washed the car with Autoglym shampoo & conditioner, then applied the wax very happy with the results, it has bought the colour out,
True red.
It's not cheap but the finish is good, and would recommend it.

I really love their stuff, IMO shits all over Meguirs. The only down side is they are expensive and you can't get the wax in Australia

Hi all.
Today I stood back and was admiring my car, and the good job the wax had done, the the SUN came out shinning through the window of the garage, and to my shock I could not be leave how many scratches were on the car.
Well I expose that is what you get buying second hand, the nice lady that owned it before me, did not have the same passion I do about my car.
So the down side to this wax is it shows up all the little scratches. (if you have them).

I just re-read what you wrote...You got the Autoglym high defintion wax in Australia? Which autobarn did you get it from?...Your not in NSW are you? >.< AUtobarn ey...

Has anyone used Xpert products? http://www.xpertproducts.com/ The guy that detailed my car used Xpert Titanium 11 paint sealant and the outcome was amazing. Not only was my car more shiney than it's been for a long time, it doesn't get anywhere near as dirty as it used to. Anyone with a black car knows that after driving 500m on a wet road the car looks putrid, but after a trip of several hundred kilometres in the wet my car was only mildly dirty. Even the dust doesn't seem to stick to it as much. And unlike Meguirs products which only seem to last a few weeks, nearly 4 months on and it's still very shiney and the dirt still doesn't stick to it.

It's pretty pricey though. I was told around $100 for a bottle big enough to do an MX5 about 5 times. Apparently it's pretty hard to apply too. Never do it in direct sun and only 1 panel at a time. If it dries it's supposed to be next to impossible to get off. And it's white so it really shows off all the stone chips on a dark coloured car.

It's worth noting that the purpose of a wax is mainly to provide a temporary layer to repel dirt/grime.
To remove swirl marks you will need to break out the polish.

Hi all.
First I hear what you are saying about polish & wax, and you are right.
The high Definition wax I got from Autobarn in Narre Warren SE Melbourne, they had three packs, now two as I have one, sorry.
In the pack you get the wax, two applicators & a micro fibre polishing cloth, the wax will last you ages, cost $129.00 not cheap.
If the Narre Warren branch can get the wax I would think any branch can.

Just bought some autoglym showroom shine spray. Put it on with a microfibre cloth and came up real nice. Would recommend. Any other suggestions for a great quick shine?

Purchased a bottle of Turtle Wax Ice Synthetic Liquid Polish(comes with applicator sponge and micro-fiber cloth), from Big W (cheaper than auto stores).
Used it on my MX, my wife's Tuson and the mother in-laws Jazz. Absolutely amazing results on all 3 cars of varying ages, it left the exterior black plastic on the Tuson & Jazz looking new.
Very easy to apply, a 4 year old could do it, in fact, my 4 yr old did do some of it. Hardly any gone from the bottle.

This, I would not recommend on a 36 deg Perth day. Sunburn SUCKS! :oops:

I've heard of people using a product called ScratchX to get fine scratches out of the paintwork. Personally I can't be bothered going to those lengths.

I use meguiars gold class shampoo and then autoglym polish and wax. The autoglym stuff is amazing. All the chemicals and gunk which gets trapped in the clear coat gets sucked right out and you're left with a beautiful glossy finish. The wax tends to provide a barrier for about 2-3 months I find, and rinsing off dirt regularly will help in that respect as well.

One thing I would recommend is claying. I haven't used a clay detailing kit on my mx5 yet, simply because it's so time consuming and I cbf, but if you're after gorgeous paintwork, the detailing clay bars are amazing at removing orange peel and deeply absorbed chemicals.

Duragloss Aquawax - lasts for months. Duragloss polish and sealant will last half a year outside and more if garaged. Not expensive and works beautifully.
