It is. I went up against workmates 135i bmw, 225kw at the engine, 400 NM torque. He lost:) Couldn't match him off the mark due to traction issues, but once in second gear it was bye bye bmw:))

Time to hunt down some M3's and 335's
I know where an Audi RS4 lives

Good to see the turbo-kit itself is holding up.

The T28 turbo seems to be the perfect one for the mx5.
I, was lucky that it became available at such a cheap price and that you and my son put it together for me, with Geoff and others input.
I, owe you a run in my car Andrew. Just say the day.
M3's too much muscle, too much engine.

I, too know of someone who owns a Audi RS4 and drives mx5's. Standard they are sub 5 second cars. From memory I believe his RS4 as been souped up, ie APR tuned. I, would have no chance against that. 335's are only slightly quicker than 135i's. I think a 335 and my car would be a close contest.

CPW you are welcome for the ride. Once, I can get the password taken off the haltech, car is running rich I am hoping for 170kw atw.
Plans are already in motion for building up the drivetrain, upping the boost to 1 bar, should see 190kw atw, same as my old nissan 180sx.

So if high boost is 12psi... what is low boost? 8psi?

I am once again impressed Ron. 8)
Power is so damn infectious.
Thanks for the drive, and thanks for NOT putting her on high boost :P

Is the car still running too rich?
Didn't smell like it to me.

Welcome Andrew for the drive.

Low boost is just under 7 psi. I, am booking it for next week to have a tune. Will let you know what sort of figures it gets.

Update: ADR approved braided brake lines fitted today, racing brake pads fitted a couple of weeks ago. Driving regularly the brakes don't feel anything special at all, but when warmed up, they are damn impressive.
Bump stops going in as soon as they arrive from USA, followed by a wheel alignment and balance. Then its time for a retune, on high boost it sputters and coughs badly.
Small coolant leak as been fixed. Gizmo shift light is stuffed. I, am blaming same on Crapweasel who dropped the car in 1st gear with plenty of revs and we went fishtailing down the road, lol. The gizmo should be covered under warranty.
Boost is going to go up to 12.5 with retune. If it breaks it breaks.
Then I will be looking for some lighter 15'' inch rims and wheels, possibly slicks to track it.

Car would be a blast to drive!

What injectors are you running?

Also how do you find the E8?

500cc Denzo injectors.

E8 is great apart from the installer locking the tune.

The garrett t28 turbo was made for the mx5, no lag whatsoever and yes its very fun to drive.

Cool. I'm currently looking into injector and ECU for my SE as well. I won't be purchasing for at least 1-2 months, but just doing some research now. As I'm pretty clueless regarding this aspect of the car, there's quite a bit to read up on. Especially when they don't come cheap.
I'm looking at the same sort of power figures as you are, but keeping the standard SE turbo. Maybe if I win some lotto or a big win at Star City, I'll think about a turbo + bottom end upgrade :)

As said, your car seems like it would put a smile on your face, and a shocked look to every other person that thinks...'pfft mx5'

Injector calculator as sent to me by ired5 says that my car needs 533cc injectors, but the 500cc ones seem to be doing the job.

Good luck with your project.
