today I finally got off my lazy ass and instead of just driving the car actually took the car out sorta washed it and had some more pics of her taken here it is....

just got few things put on the car so here's a quick update

Shiny new PWR radiator in looks alot better changed all the radiator hoses as well, that bottom hose was abit of a bitch to pull out and put back in but we managed to finish at 12 midnight





u can also see the HID kit i've installed... yes i know its abit doggy

Lastly i was bored so i finally pulled off the stop airbox as ppl said the build number was on the bottom there is wat i fould





One is on the bottm of top half and one is on the bottom of the bottom half so does that mean its the 3rd SP?

Also just considering what to do next..... just read all the bov stuff maybe thats next just nothing too expensive any suggestions?

If the top and bottom half both have 03 on them, then yes SP number 3. If different numbers on top and bottom, it's anyones guess - some were mixed and matched to get a combo with a good fit.

As for mods, brake line re-route (PM russellb on here for the "kit"), bov, then let us know your budget and the suggestions will come flowing

If you want your A/C to have some hope of working in stop/go traffic in the middle of summer you should reinstall the foam seals on the top and bottom of the radiator and add some new ones down the side. Otherwise the cooling fan wont suck the air through the A/C condensor. Actually when stationary and without the bottom seal the fan will suck hot air from the engine bay underneath and back through the radiator. With the intercooler and now the addition of a thicker radiator the poor fan is going to be doing it tough sucking enough air to keep everything cool.

It would appear that you may have the 3rd production SP made, which depending on who you talk to is the 6th or 7th SP made including the bitsa and the 3 pre-production cars.

thx 4 the advise Garry im still abit noobish about this but can u point out to me what i have to use and where i have to use it on to help the ac im not too fuss about the aircon but the gf wont have it without ac in summer

If you look at the top of your old radiator or any other stock MX5 it should have some foam stuck to the front of the top tank. This seals the top radiator tank to the radiator support just under the overflow hose in your pic. If you look at the bottom tank of your old radiator it should have had a splindly piece of foam that sealed up against the plastic splash guard fitted underneath the engine. These are only helpful when the car is stationary to help the fan suck the air through the bits it's supposed to go through.

Both foam pieces were missing from my car from new and the A/C performance in stop go traffic was woeful. I did a bit of research and discovered 2 things. There wasn't much airflow through the grill opening at the front of the car and hot air was being sucked by the fan from the engine bay underneath the radiator and back through the radiator again. I bought some thick stick on foam strip from Bunnings and stuck that onto the radiator top and bottom tanks. Doing this achieved a bit more air flow through the grill and more importantly no more hot air from the engine bay. I also sealed the sides of the radiator to the A/C condensor and achieved a bit more airflow through the grill opening. So now my A/C works in heavy traffic unless the temps are over about 35 degrees.

thx for that much appreciated i did see some thin form when i removed the old radiator had no idea what they were for gonna go get some and replace it anything else i should lookout for?

I spotted your SP from across the street when I noticed the SE wheels. It's funny, but I had only just picked up this thread on Saturday or Sunday and saw the pix you posted. The car looks great, and those wheels really suit it.

With exception of MAITA, yours is the only SP I've seen in the CBD in over 2 years (...although I'm sure a lot have passed me when I've been distracted looking at other things).
