Invest in some driver training pronto. The back of a 5 is NOT SUPPOSED to come out easily unless you drive it like a complete loon.

If I could also add that apart from driver training, perhaps the following is in order:
1) a wheel alignment by Wheelsworld (NOR) or Bridgestone Bentley (SOR),
2) new quality tyres and
3) lack of a LSD?

I have new tyres on, its not like I cant drive, I have been on a few track days and advanced driver training courses.
There's nothing wrong with the car, it grips well. The back only comes out when I really push it, I'm just saying that I didn't expect
that good torque out of the corners.
Doesn't the 2001 model have a LSD?

Mazfan,
How come you are not registered for tomorrow's Round 1 of the MX5 Autotest Series at the RAC Centre?

Not sure what torque you are referring to in a 2001 model? By nature the BP motors are not torquey motors and require a little push into the rev range to get the car really moving. And LSDs were not standard equipment on 2001 MX5s AFAIK.

Les,

I have not joined the club yet, also fairly new to country so have a CAMS license also.
I will probably start going to Barbagallo next year.

Sounds good, there's a few of us here that are WASCC members, we're going to try and make sure we go the same test and tune days at Barbars.

If you're free tomorrow come past the RAC driver training centre and say hi.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Now you mention it, time to organise one before the end of the year. Gimmie a month to fit the new air heater because I am looking forward to scaring myself silly into turn 7.
Street='94 with FFS Coldside. Sold :(
Race='97 with AVO (soon to be Absurdflow) and GT2560 <--- sod that... LS1 conversion underway!

What a lot of people don't realise is that NOS is not some magic way to increase power.
It is basically a chemical supercharger, and as such, it can really screw your motor up.

Sure, you see a lot of drag cars using it, but they usually have the engine re-built after EVERY race.

If you work out that a AA/FD dragster does say 8,000 RPM for most of the run, seeing as they are only racing for around 4 seconds at a time, that means the engine only lives for around 550 crankshaft revolutions before it needs new pistons and rods.
That's OK for a professional drag car, but it can spell disaster for a street engine.

I have seen a street car with NOS blow its engine sky high, when the extra fuel injector had a hiccup when the nitrous was going full steam.
Not a pretty sight.

That's one thing you have to remember about nitrous, if something does go wrong with the computer, or the fuel supply, you can wave bye-bye to your engine.
Also, the power comes on very fast, which may mean your clutch and gearbox may not last long either.
Turbochargers and superchargers don't suddenly produce another 100hp.
They build the extra power gradually over a few thousand RPM, so the extra load on the running gear is not so great.
