Oil Temp Sender

Postby Robbo » Mon Sep 07, 2009 9:24 am

Just a bit of info for all concerned who are thinking of installing a oil temp gauge. After getting info from this forum I found out that you can get the oil sender (VDO part No. 320.007) from Autobarn or from Ringwood Speedo's Maroondah H'wy Ringwood Vic. This retailer is a VDO outlet and has all VDO gauges and parts. The sender replaces the sump plug and fits my NB. Thread size is 14mm x 1.5 Hope this helps.

You can also get a sandwich plate that attaches where the oil filter goes and gives you a few threaded holes to attach sensors, some people also put a T piece where the OEM oil pressure sensor goes.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

The sender cost me $29 at Ringwood Speedo. It fits direct into the sump plug hole. :)

robbo, i checked that part number and it comes up as a water temperature sensor.. (320.007) for $35

part number 360.007 is the oil pressure piece which is $80..

from doug's post, it looks like we've got conflicting numbers/parts :?

That's interesting? When I purchased the part from the VDO outlet and I told him I needed a sensor for oil temp and for it to go in place of the sump plug that was the part I needed. I would check further. Give the Ringwood Speedo a ring on 03 98742260. Let me know how you go.
