New NA owner saying hello - now with added pics :)
Hi everyone,
My other half Ruth just bought her first MX5 a Marnier Blue 1991 model, had a few problems with it but thanks to help on this forum she/we are well on our way to enjoying our/her new MX5.
The guy who did the roadworthy was somewhat lacking in ethical standards and we had to put it back to legal height, the tyres were also very suspect so they went as well
Here is the car when we picked it up, a few roadworthy issues,,,
Car after 4 springs, 2 front shocks, 4 new rims (they will have to do for now), 4 tyres, a stylebar, leather seats with headrest speakers (thanks to Danny )
At top of Mt Tamborine today for a drive,,,
which was the WRONG DAY for a drive Ruth putting up her top with a split rear window ... extra points for spotting where the split is.

Welcome.
Forum sponsor MX Plus is up that way, or are they more Gold Coast? Either way, check out the link at the bottom of the page.
Edit: pics!

Don't worry about the thinning on top, just find a good driving hat! Welcome to the addiction MX5 Plus is definitely the place to go to have work done on the car, they're service centre is in Geebung, and awesome range of parts at the Stafford gaff. Oh, and pics of said car or it didn't happen!

I would love to arrange a "Dodgy Day" but I can't get my head around deep fried chicken wings with chilli & blue cheese as the preffered food for such an event

Well almost anyone can hold one these days - it's not like we need Wayne to cook, or even attend.

Shampoo.
Run fingers through hair on occassion, or when necessary.
Full stop.
There are quite a number of forumites living within kooee of Forest Lake. I'm also a few 'burbs away.
But yeah, best go for a drive up to Stafford to visit MX5Plus on a Saturday. I would love to help, but I am busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest.
Feel free to come around though, and I'm sure I can find spare time

Welcome to the family
First is to keep 2 hats in the MX-5 at all times for when the urge to go topless strikes.
If you're down south, include a couple of beanies for those nice crisp, clear mornings.
As for servicing the car.
I have always had it checked over and change all service items and fluids soon after purchase.
It provides a start point, an opportunity to check things, and as Uncle Arthur said "who knows when they were last done"
As to who does the job is dependant on who or what you know.
Any one of the site sponsors should do a good job.
If you know what you are doing, it is a great introduction to the car (dodgy day).
If you have a trusted local mechanic, they can also do the job.
Just my thoughts
P.S. Picture or Ban

Deep fried chicken wings with chilli & blue cheese are worth driving 100kms or more for and I don't normally like blue cheese.
Mx5plus all the way, I am off there saturday morning to get a number plate bracket. If, you wanna tag along give me a holler, I just live down the road at Collingwood park.

I am busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest. Don't you just love Australian
colloquialisms. Try translating that into Indonesian and telling a relative in Indonesia. There response would be........Why would a one legged man be kicking someones ass....lol.

I will be taking the car up to stafford on Saturday, just so i can have it looked over to see what bits are missing from the trim etc, and putting a wish list together with prices.
My main intention is to have someone that knows MX5's tell me if there is any potential problems.
I will then work at fixing them with the help of a huge mound of chicken wings, chilli & blue cheese to lure people over to show me how to fix/fit/fill/bleed my MX5, while slapping each other heartily on the back downing cold beer & telling each other how easy it all is when you know how.
Uncle Arthur.... I didn't get it fitted, I am taking it tomorrow at 12, I shopped around and cheapest was 50 bucks welded and fitted. (after you showing me your area around rear numberplate, mine is square shaped and brace under the rear, mine doesn't have one - i'm not sure mine is a 1991? it says 7/91 on the plate)
Here is the only pic I have of the car as bought with a bodgy road worthy certificate (no I didn't know at the time)
Since then it has had 4 new springs, 2 new front shocks 4 new rims and 4 new tyres and now it is actually legal.
