Wobbly vibratiing noisy passenger seat
Hi all,
Just checking whether anyone else has experienced my (minor) problem and if there is a solution.
On my NB8A the empty passenger seat vibrates over bumps/rough roads. I have checked that the mounts are tight and there does not appear to be that much "play" in it bit it gets a little annoying at times.
Done a search with no luck, so is it just my car? Its a year 2000 model with 112k on the clock, factory leather seats.
thanks

it has been mentioned before, most use the solution of cranking the seat right back & reclining the seat back into the rear wall, & to stop it squeaking/wearing in this position, place a small towel where the seat back touches the wall
hope that helps.

Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often

like AJ suggested... i tilt my seats forward when driving with the top down so the sun doesn't fade the fabric.. squeaks like crazy.
but once its been reclined backwards to it's at full rest, the squeaks cease.
i can't brain today.. i have the dumb..

It's more than likely the seat but are you sure it's not the seatbelt tongue rattling against the side panel? There is a little slot for it to fit into in the plastic side panel when not being used.
Otherwise, what AJ said.

Try spraying some WD40 or similar on the rail and any hinges etc you can reach. I found mine has a "sweet spot" where it doesn't squeek (or not enough to be annoying). Try different settings of the seat and the back.

my personal preference would be a cute blonde, however that's for purely aesthetic reasons.
The actual function remains the same regardless of which colour you choose.

my preferance would be one of middle eastern origin but whatever takes your fancy.
my seatbelt also rattled.....but thats sort of disaperaed sinece the Dijon recently got an upgrade in the noise department. its even pointless to have the radio going.
I also put the seat up aginst the roll bar to stop it vibrating. I have NB8B seats

My seat was squeaking when the rear pleather of the NA seats were rubbing against the rollbar padding on the passenger side, with or without passenger. I just wrapped a T-shirt around the area i get no more squeaks.

Grazza,
I had a similar problem when I purchased my NB and found that removing the seat and cleaning the rails of fluff and grit with a kero soaked rag followed by a liberal coating of "Dry Lube" (wax stick) fixed it. Take note of the adjustment return spring to see that it cannot make contact and cause squeaking.
Good luck.
Greg.

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

You have to be careful you pick the right Brunette to stop the rattle....... other wise you might get a constant whine
