Going great, thanks for asking George
Still counting down the clock until the suggested run-in time of 30hours has completed but it's such an amazing difference.
Will post it up later once i've got some decent shots.
The blokes are Fhrx are just fan-bloody-tastic.

haha... good one sliq.
I got myself an Eclipse AVN726EA - Alpine's flagship model is a year old now and the Eclipse one is definitely the best out there atm (for this price range anyways).

Sorry for the late reply - flat chat at work lately, but here are the pics:
Original unit
Unit out
Original door
Cover off, don't know what the plastic cover is... probably to weather proof?
Inside of the door deadened with the Diffuser that stops vibrations inside the chamber from the back of the speakers

More pics...
New speakers mounted in the custom enclosure
Component
Door completely deadened and with the new speaker in place
Diamond D363.5 - they're fantastic... clear and crispy even at high speed
Overall the head unit works really well, especially if you have an iPod or iPhone (don't have either). Still trying to find a low powered portable hard drive that i can put into the glove box but all USB sticks work with the system. I'll hold my judgement on its GPS and traffic report functionality at the moment as i need to move the location of the antenna to give it better signals but overall, it's a great unit with fairly good settings. The draw back is that i could have gotten a single DIMM unit with more sound calibration settings for half the price but it's apples and oranges here...
Last but not least, just a BIG thanks and a HUGE recommendation to Marty and the guys at FHRX down at Cronulla, it might be a bit far for people but it's definitely worth the way.
They are professional and friendly and very educational. Despite long work shifts, they were still taking everything seriously and made sure everything was done perfectly before they let me go (it was almost 9pm by the time i got my car back). They literally made sure every single cable tie has been tucked into its place before they are satisfied with the installation... and for the peanuts they charge for what seems to be hours and hours of work by them, i'm very appreciative of all their time spent
Now all i need to do is save up for Stage 2 upgrade - cable upgrade and an amp. (Stage 3 is sub with custom enclosure + deadening the boot)

Looks good mate, glad you're happy with it
Interesting location for the crossover, but should stay dry there and reduce the need for two pairs of cables running into the doors which would make install much simpler. I might just use that idea myself
Some good pics showing where the Dynamat goes too, for those watching at home!

I've known Marty for years now - he's a brilliant installer, and also a great bloke. I do most of my own install work these days, but if I ever needed install work done FHRX is the only place I'd trust to do it.
Good to see yet another thrilled fan
MEASQ (national sound quality competition) will be coming back to NSW in 2010 (after a year absense) and I plan to enter my MX5 once my install is complete. You should enter yours as well - it's be great to have a few move MX's down there
P.s.
If you have any questions about the comps or about audio feel free to drop me a PM anytime. Next time you see Martym tell him that Muzzy said go easy on the Pepsi Max
