i've ben trying to buy some nb shockmounts from fatcat but they won't reply to my emails :? :frown:

how did you find them to deal with?

Fatty,

I found it's easier to ring at 6.00am on Tuesday mornings and talk direct to Sheik.
When I first emailed FMC had a reply basically straight away (within 12hrs) but his site does say that when they are busy emails take second place.
I had to wait for 9 weeks ( luckly I'm never in a hurry) to get parts as I ordered non stock items re: 85mm coilovers, but they still keep me informed as to what was happening. So yeh! I found them pretty good to deal with unlike some others, who you want to spend big dollars with and they wouldn't even talk to me on the phone.  needless to say they didn't get to share any of my money.
If you do get the shock mounts also get the bumpstops they are the ants pants!!!

thanks for the info mate.

about the bumpstops, i have tein ss coilovers and i am led to beleive the bumpstops are not compatible with, or aren't needed, with the teins. i have asked fatcat about this but yeah, no response.

does anyone know the deal with this?

i'll try emailing them again... if not i'll have to make a tuesday morning phone call i guess

No point on the Teins, they already come with their own short bumpstops.
If you want to check (I did on the HAs) the thing to do it take off the spring, reinstall the shock, and see you high you can jack the control arm. You'll find that hard things start to get pretty close to each other, and hopefully the jack will lift the car off the stands when the bumpstop compresses, just before the hard bits contact each other (eg upper control arm and chassis in the rear).

Hi all,

Well had a wheel alignment this morning then off for a track day in the wet.

Actually the track was dry but the dip had water flowing through them, certainly made it interesting.

So how did it go?

Both Gerard NMX516 and Neil took the car for a quick spin and I think the most interesting comment was " it rides like a normal car, it rides through the bumps not crashes through them"

My lap times I think were reasonable just need to stiffen the front bar.

Help on Clubman suspension

Sorry to dig up an old thread.

But just to clarify, you had to send your Bilsteins to the US to fatcatmotorsports for revalving?

Hi Rob,
Firstly please check your PMs.
Springs are Espilier from MX5plus, I think Richard still has some.
All the Bilstein mods are from fatcatmotorsports.com. I ordered 85mm spring seats to suit std dia springs, but the kit also included the spring seats to suit 65mm race springs.Sheik the owner is extremely helpful.
I fitted all the parts etc after spending I don't know how many hours finding out as much as I could about Bilsteins and the kits available.
The biggest problem with Bilstein in Aust is noone wants to modify or even give advise about what you can do to the product. In the States it a completely different story and there are many companys modifying Bilsteins.

Pretty sure Terry got the Bilsteins rebuilt & revalved locally, but I believe Heaseman's have done this work for some forumites.

Hey Noddle,
What 93_clubman said.
Find out who your local Billy agent is and try them.
The biggest difference you can make to the clubman suspension is better springs and FCM bumpstops, I think Fatty had a set for sale and Russell @ Carco in Canberra had some for sale too.

Just a side note, Novice 1 took my clubman for a run the other week and he reckons its the most comfortable MX5 he's ever dríven, gotta be happy with that :D :D
