Hi All,
Thought it was about time I shared my ride with you all - it looks stock, and will stay that way on the outside but I figured I'd share my favourite photos which I took yesterday during the Ekka holiday.
Mods wise so far it has the larger intercooler, 3A Racing pod filter, 4300K HIDs, 2.5" exhaust.
I've had it just over 2 months and I'm loving every minute of it!
Now I just need more funds for more mods! (FM O2, AEM BOV, then ECU controller, injectors - aiming for just north of 150 RWKW)

Hi Novice1,
Haven't decided as yet - plan on doing the listed mods in that order, so the tuning will be next on the list after I choose an ECU - which at this stage will be about 12 months away.
Although, I do want to get the car dyno tested before I go any further to get a measure of where I'm at now, the 2 person consensus at the moment says 135RWKW, but I'd like to check and make sure...

CW, your very next mod needs to be a MX5Plus number plate mount!!!
Pain is temporary, quitting lasts forever.

*checks website*
I believe you are correct! MX5Plus are local, so I think a visit to them in the very near future is a must!

Thanks 16bit, I think!
As it is the current setup is enough to get me arrested, but the obsession does get to you!
I saw your pics back in the "I'm still dreaming" days, and would really like to see your beast in the flesh - it's a work of art!
Cheers
Pete

Crapweasel's SE - Small Updates
Since the last post, I've added a GFB recirc BOV, an oil change, fitted the MX5 Plus front plate bracket and replaced the side bumper clips so the front bar now sits straight, The intentions of the last owner were really good by doing the intercooler, but his panel beater didn't do the side clips correctly... (and most likely broke them when installing, without realising).
However, I've now purchased the FM 02 Mod, the proper AEM intake kit (in Red, as everyone else seems to have the polished one) and the EBay Dump Pipe.
Although the boost cut mod is going to be a definite, once I can find out the appropriate diodes to use (MINX? DAVE X3? - You both have them, so a free beer in exchange for the local parts is in it for you!)
Where to from there without a hell of a lot of saving is going to be a mission - so any other cheap tweaks that are known would be greatly appreciated! I'm after acceleration, as I know these things corner already
According to all sources I've read up on so far, the next step is to upgrade the turbo, replace the ECU and then spend a bazzillion dollars on tuning... But, firstly I'd like to Dyno the car and get a rough Idea where I'm at, and then maybe look at a lightened flywheel for curing the slow takeoff between 2500 and 5500 RPM, even with the O2 mod installed.
BUT - the kicker is, I have no idea where to go in Brisbane for a short/reasonably priced Dyno run. Any ideas?
And, here's a couple of new pics - one with the new no plate mount (Thanks for the tip Gerard!), and one with the new badging on the back
(yes, I know the car is dirty, and the MSM badge isn't quite in the right place (Dammit - it's MY version!) - and the car is filthy but it was 5am when I took the pic, and I kinda liked the raindrops/grit!)
Cheers
Pete

Hey Pete,
I found my left over, spare resistors for Boost Cut ByPass.
Your welcome to them.

Glad you like the new plate mount Pete
Out of interest, what diff ratio do these things run? A lower ratio will give you harder acceleration, but no more power...

Apparently the SE has 3.6 dif. Good for longer legs.

Crapweasel's SE - Update 2/5/10
Davex3 wrote:Here is the link for the how to boost cut mod:

I think the diodes cost me under $5 for 2 packs of 10 at jaycar. If you can't find some i think i should be able to find the left overs i have.
If you don't want to get engine managment or aren't going to get it for a while you can get either the supra light green top 315cc injectors, or the super rare toyota 320cc dark green top injectors. That along with the boost cut mod should let you run happily upto around 12psi. If you are going to get aftermarket managment, the adaptronic e420c is a good cheap unit that is well supported. The e420c with some 600cc deatschwerks injectors should support upto around 350rwhp.
Do you want to stick with the stock turbo setup?
Id go this way for mods:
1. Boost cut bypass.
2. Injectors.
3. Crank the boost.
4. High flow turbo.
5. Engine managment.
6. ????
7. PROFIT!!!!
Of course there are always other way you could go, aftermarket turbo + manifold etc. Suspension mods, brake mods. How much money do you want to spend?
I've got a nice 3.1" exhaust, an adaptronic and fuel system on the way.
Thanks for the link Dave (About time you did something with your exhaust - your car is far too quiet, and it's just begging to be set free )
Not sure yet on ultimate budget - but I'm thinking I'll put the upcoming lot on and see how it goes - which I'm thinking in reality will be:
1 - put stuff on
2 - hey - this is pretty fast!
3 - get used to it
4 - install boost gauge
5 - wind up boost
6 - hey - this is pretty fast!
7 - get used to it
8 - oh crap. it's going to cost THAT much to get more out of it?
