stick on front number plate
im sure im not the only one that thinks a stick on front number plate would be a good thing...yet i see no examples out there ...so i presume its not a legal option
wondering how to influence the fascistic beaurocracies that are the RTA(s) in order to have such a thing made available!?
any ideas out there??
enjoy

Write to your local minister with some important arguments. You have no chance.

Just got back from US. In Alberta they dont have front number plates. Dont know what argument was used there to get rid of them. Then again saw very few MX's.

Apparently the RTA has realised it is missing out on a revenue stream so they are trying to devise a way to fit front number plates to motorcycles. One of the options being discussed is a sticker attached to the fairing screen. If that ever comes to fruition then there could be an arguement to have similar technology applied to cars.

That applies in a lot of the states of the USA.
In fact, if you buy a new car, you can drive away in it in just a few minutes of organising the finance, and then the dealer puts on a cardboard "plate" with the dealers info on it (like an ad), and you can legally drive it around like this until your real number plates arrive a couple of weeks later.
We could really learn a few things from the US as far as cars go.
Many dealer service centres are open 24/7, and many car dealers are open until midnight most nights too.
You can walk into a dealer at midnight, pick a car from their stock (and they usually have hundreds of new cars in stock) and drive away in under an hour!
Not like here where you have to wait a couple of days.
I went to a BMW dealer in LA once, and they had a 10 acre holding yard just behind the dealership, and it was full of the entire BMW range, in all colours and various options and every car was ready to drive away immediately!
I also went to a Lambo dealer there, and they had every model in every colour in stock!
Not like here where they might have one new car and a couple of used cars.

I suppose we can learn something from USA but their car industry has hardly been cutting edge for a very long time- going bankrupt is hardly a sign of success. They also have an appalling road safety record and are behind in acknowledging that to save lives you often have to legislate. Incidentally front number plates were required on m/cyles years ago in Vic and for some reason it dropped off the menu. It seems here that motorcylists are pretty free to flout the rules and not pay tolls etc.

It dropped off the menu cos it sliced your nuts off if you stacked.
And we (motorcyclists) NEVER flout the rules!
AND I'd pay tolls if they had a toll gate to pay at. Unless you can find a secure place for me to stick my E Tag.
You are just a typical motorcycle basher buddy!

I had one for about a year up until a week ago when I got defected. The copper didn't give me a fine as he agreed that it looked much better but he still issued me with a notice. $53 later (inspection fee) and the slimline plate is back on I'm not complaining though, I was in the wrong and was bound to get caught sooner or later.
The main reason I got it made up was to prevent the number plate bolts hitting the bumper as people walked past it. This happened all the time with my previous Five and I wasn't going to let it happen to this one. As an added bonus, it looked so much better. Now i've got some rubber grommets on the end of the bolts for protection.

why did you need to pay an inspection fee for getting a duplicate plate?
