Lug nuts (Aftermarket wheel nuts)

So i'm just wondering if anyone has tried tuner lugs on their aftermarket wheels, what one could recommend?

I've looked at Rays, Work, 5zigen, Enkei, Blox, Type One Racing, Mcgard, so on and so forth.

Aluminium vs Chromoly vs steel?

Locking nuts or not?

I have Enkei RPF1's, and am concerned that my existing chrome plated steel lug nuts are rubbish. They are showing signs of corrosion where the hex-tool is inserted into the lug nut. Not to mention the fact they are heavy.

i use 949 racing items for the track and normal speco steel ones for the street. both have held up well so far. they seem to hold the torque and don't loosen.

I had the Work aluminium nuts on my GT-R. They didn't scratch and weighed next to nothing. Also comes with a locking nut. Bloody awesome and highly recommended and will again purchase soon for my RX-7 project.

They come in black, blue and red.

I have McGard, reasonable price & great quality. IMO Rays lugs is way overpiced, you wont notice the difference in weight.

X2 on work lugs

Lite, work and appear great on my RPF1's, just torque them up to wheel specification, from memory on the 16" it was 85-120 nm.

Those 'Work' nuts look the same as the ones I got from Goodwin - but without the locknuts.

Look good, but after lots of use on the GM swapping racetyres on and off they started to show aluminium through the finish - didn't affect performance though, and they only went on the race wheels anyway so I didn't care.

It's nice to get some discussion happening, particularly some light being shed on certain products based on actual experiences.

I've had a look at the 949 racing lugs and the Work lugs.

I can't decide which style will look better on a red NA8 with silver RPF1's . I saw some silver 15's on a red integra with ocean blue lugs (darker than valve color) which looked v clean.

There aren't a lot of pics which show the car side on, side it's kinda hard to tell what will look good...
I think polished ones will blend in too much.

Where did you guys buy your lugs from?

Lots of honda traders have colours lug nuts (also honda has same pitch/thread as mazda), to name a few jdmyard, jdmconcept, and shift performance have cheaper lightweight ones.

McGard user here. Look good with my RPF1s, no issues whatsoever. Just have to remember to lecture tire shops/service depts against the use of rattle guns if they are removing your wheels.
Or swap over to stock lugs before such time.

I was reading apparently the turbo xs titaninum lug nuts are the litest 11 or 12 grams each. but they only do 1.25 and M12.

But its easy to change studs and angle grid them down...
