Stu love the car.

Had my rear decklid colour matched to my car and I think it looks Soooooooo much better.

Think, your rear decklid done in silver would look way better.

Mine cost $200 Crawfords crash repairs, Goodna.

It turned out better than I could possibly imagine.

Why would i do it in Silver?
I could maybe try Titanium.

Thanks Ron.
I saw the pics of yours, looks great.
I will have to photoshop it to decide. But i like the black.

They seem a reputable, well run work shop preparing heaps of REXs and Targa race cars so i expected their dyno to be accurate.
Even if it is a 'generous' dyno, i am still very happy with the figures.
Edit: Previous dyno run done last year at Gary Stewart's showed just under 200hp atw so this is about right.

Danny, that printout is with NO Unichip!
Kel spent about 4hrs on the car, he wanted to remove the MBC and use the Unichip EBC to control the factory solenoid to control boost. This caused him many a headache, and in the end beat him. So the chip was ripped out, MBC refitted and tuned and that print out was the result. The first run ran out @ 140kwatw, then he played with boost, he said, and got above result.

He has to get some more info from suppliers, and research how to use the solenoid and EBC.
We should then see safer AFRs (currently about 12), a 'little' more kw, and better response.
Also, the above has O2 modd disabled.(now re enabled).

They havent charged me a cent, which is amazing, but i am sure will sting me once we go ahead with the chipping in next couple of weeks.

Until then i have good bragging rights!

MINX wrote:So what we really need is an ISOhttp://www.iso.org/iso/about.htm for Dynos.
If the Mania dyno is "generous" by 14-19 then should we take that into consideration when viewing the performance increases quoted on their web site for CAI, Intercoolers, ECUs etc?
Surely Dynos can be mapped to a standard.

Ran mine up on Gary Stewarts Dyno. 120atw

viewtopic.php?f=18&t=33852&p=438496&hilit=dyno#p438496

Impressive result for just CAI, IC & exhaust, did something change since this run?

Hope the uni chip works out without too many hicups, it would be great to have another piggyback option for the SE. The sepo's tried it on the MSM with not much luck; but for all we know the tuner may have not of been very capable.

Blackster, I dont know what happened with Gary's Dyno run.
He gave me two print outs, one showing just under 200HP the other, converted, showing 120kw.(same run)
I never tried to convert the difference to see whether they matched.
So I assumed 120kw = 200hp. Which does not seem correct when using a web based converter.
200hp=149kw (which seems close to C-N-J Dyno report.

Who cares, it gives me something to bragg about and then i can see what improvements are gained from chipping.
My main concern was tuning for safe mixtures. Hoping to improve power, but also promised improved economy when cruising.

OK Update time.
Added 315cc Supra Injectors and 28" Intercooler.

60k Service at MX5 Plus today (Great Customer Service, Thanks to Danny and Rhys)
Then on to GT Auto Garage for a dyno run http://www.gtautogarage.com.au/dynotune.htm

Running a little lean at peak boost but OK if I keep it to about 10psi max.
Consistent runs at 140 - 142 RWKW

That's a solid set of curves :D. Are your injectors maxxed out on full noise or can you squeeze a little more out of them? Otherwise perhaps drop half a lb of boost and protect that top end? Pistons go boom is nasty I hear

I found when I had Max dyno'd last week that we needed to drop 1lb out - now peak boost of 8lbs and falling away to 5lbs at the top of the curve - 1.8 injectors (265cc) were on full dutycycle - I could pick up the black top 300cc injectors that RXMX has for sale (next pay cheque perhaps) and put it back up, but for now the mix of driveability plus fun is what I'm after - and I don't use full noise that often anyway - the thing is quick enough now that I think I'm happy. I ended up with a fuel mix that doesn't drop below 10.5, and sits around 11-12 through most of the (boost section) map. Off boost it runs on the stock ECU.

Dunno?
Running OEM ECU so dont know where the injectors are at.
Peak boost was at 11 down to 9.5 at redline.
So I am happy to adjust back to 10psi max for longevity.
Wont affect power or torque noticeably.
Now I know my boost gauge is reasonably accurate, I can tweak it.

Misquote Andrew.
I already have 315cc Injectors.

UA said he needed them.

Strongly disagree, the contrast of the black makes it really stand out and not blend into blandness (hardtops look better with contrasting colours too IMHO).

Having it painted to match the car is sooooooooooooo much better. The reardeck lid now looks part of the car, rather than an add on and it no longer has that plastic look to it, done in metallic green.
Nice power figures tho Stu.

They only tested one side Dave. The other side is putting out 150RWKW, hence the straight line issues!
