Rob, good to hear you've had some joy with this - indeed 180-200rwkw sounds like enough to have some fun!

ECU in SP - Which models are the same
Hi Big Dog,
I am off to the States for a holiday towards the end of August and this is when my car will be going to Ballarat to stay with my mate who runs a performance workshop up there. He will be doing the install and tuning whilst I am gone. All things going well I will have it back towards the middleof September. Looking forward to it.

ECU in SP - Which models are the same
Thought I would provide a quick update,
There have been a couple of issues with the ECU replacement. The last hurdle is the alternator being controlled by the ECU as the alternator takes its directions to run from the ECU. Apparantly the regulator on most most cars is built into the alternator however for the MX5 they decided to program it into the ECU.
We also had a problem with the tacho not registering any revs however that was easily sorted once the correct wire was located and connected. Pretty much everything is controlled by the ECU.
We are trying to maintain all factory connections to the ECU so that if required the aftermarket ECU can be removed and the original one plugged in without any hassle.
I will hopefully have the car back this weekend with a mild tune, can't wait to drive the car again, haven't seen it for 4 weeks. Once I have the car back and running I will get some photo's together and provide a bit of a run down on the job.
