Epic wheel painting

Postby Artificial Life » Tue Aug 04, 2009 11:04 pm

I managed to spend 2 precious days off in the good company of a mate, 10 wheels and a whole lot of high grade and paper. The net result of which is no more ugly dark blue wheels, very little remaining fingernail and a few large blisters.

And some great looking wheels :)

Sorry but the originals were better can't believe you just killed those magnesium blue te37s.

Unfortunately, they weren't the original Rays blue, they were originally white and a previous owner did a really dodgy over-spray on them.

The only original Magnesium blue bit I had was one centre cap :(

I've got a set of Tein s-tech springs and Bilstein B6 shocks to go in next week (or as soon as I can find someone to do them....), but I'm kinda waiting to see if anyone else is going to be in on the group-buy for sway bars that Josh (Wholesale Suspension) is running.

Thanks squire :)

It's a factory Renault colour (427), in DeBeer paint, from Autolac. We double-coated with clear-coat (2pack with hardner) after the base coat, with a small go of 1200+ grade sand paper in the middle.

The wheels are 17*7.5 +44

Great job and the colour does look a whole lot better, I sprayed my wheels a year ago and one thing people need to know is that you need a lot of patience and good masking skills

Do you know if most WRX wheels fit the NC??

Also could you post some higher quality pics when you get a chance?

The WRX ones are +55 / 7.5, so probably won't get a tyre under the guards without scraping, without some serious tyre stretch, but you could try. Mine were originally off a DC5 Integra.

The STi ones are +55 / 8.5, so there's probably far too wide.

They'll look better when I put the new Rays stickers on :)

WRX wheels- you might have problems of it rubbing the inside guard/suspension than the outside.

Would 17x5 5x100/5x114.3 +42 fit without any issue??

Do you mean 17x7? if so +42 should be okay.

+55 17x8.5 is okay, since stock is +55, going wider doesn't hurt

Probably, but I wouldn't be cutting 1.5 off the standard rim width for a change of wheel. Better off to save your pennies and wait for a better set of wheels.
