NC Sway Bars

Postby Sailor » Thu Jul 16, 2009 3:32 pm

Any preferences for sway bars on an NC?
Looking at Whiteline 24mm Front and 16mm Rear, both adjustable.
Suspension is otherwise stock, car is a daily drive with a few track days for a start.
Any other ideas from NC drivers?

Cheers,
Rob

Most are using the Whitelines.
Kuntry Kussin is using these http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info. ... ts_id/1108
They are alloy and will cost you about the same as the Whitelines. He reports they are good for the road. He doesn't track his car, just blows up the motor.

OK,
Contacted a long time mate and suspension genius who is the Pedders agent at Taren Point.
He fitted a set of Pedders adjustable bars front and rear, 3 hole adjustment on each.
Bars are bent by the legendary Don Selby for this agent, and after a 'proper' wheel alignment, have transformed my car into a big sprintkart.

Ride is just a little more solid, but my wife hasn't noticed despite my prompting.
Turnin and change of direction are just astounding compared to the std setup.
Really hard change of direction sees the rear bump and bounce just a little too much for my liking so next suspension mod will now be a set of adjustable rear shocks to replace the too soft Bilsteins fitted to the Limited Edition. Front seems OK atm.

Bars are set on the middle hole front/rear and when pushing hard, I get very very mild initial understeer, and I'll leave it like that until I get a decent drive in the wet....don't think the missus would appreciate swapping ends on her way to work if I tighten up the rear before a little more testing

Alignment on my std height NC LE came in at F/R camber -1.5, Caster, 6.2, Front toe in 1mm, rear toe in 1.5mm.
Absolutely no sign of tramlining so I might try just a tad less toe on the front and see what eventuates.

All in, I'm a very happy camper!

Thanks Boss,
Thought it might fill in a few blanks for those of us with Std height NCs.
I'd really like to drop mine by 30mm or so, but if I did, I just wouldn't get into my driveway

I've got the Whiteline bars and run them both full hard and the NC is still fairly hard to unsettle. Wouldnt stress too much about cranking it up to full hard settings but let us know how you go?
