Whos up for a twisty drive this weekend? (melb) 20/09/09

Postby mxfive95 » Fri Jul 17, 2009 1:26 pm

Hey guys iv done some more mods to my ride (signature sways and semi slicks)so im hanging out for a drive in it :D

So im thinking sunday morning meet up at 8 for an 8.30 departure on mountain hwy at the round about in The Basin (botom of sassafras). cruise would see us going through sassafras, olinda, monbulk, seville then onto warberton hwy to donna buang then back to Dom rd for a coffee/late breaky in healsville at Big Steps cafe (near Beechworth bakery).

We did this drive about two months ago and there are plenty of photos from it bellow (thanks to ben steve and juffa)

Hope to see a few people there :D

Goto post 32 for post replys relating to this edited post :D Cruise will be as stated above.

Cheers Craig

I think we should meet up at the round about on mountain hwy in the basin (melway map65 g7) at say 1pm then head off at 1.30 through the dandenongs towards mt.Donna Buang (which might be closed due to snow season) and then on to the reefton spur via olinda, monbulk and seville(providing everyone wants to :D ).

Does anyone know Where the beechworth bakery is? or any place out around there that does a great coffee?

Here's my mob incase you need to call 0424 233 885

umm beechworth?

seriously - havent been to the beechworth bakery, but theres really only 2 streets in beechworth - couldnt be hard to miss?

i went n did this (see pic) on thursday - was under 550km all up - nice free flowing roads, little traffic, the black spur and you get to marvel @ the green & black regrowth happening out there - while this may be a tad far, theres always a trip back through yea and kinglake - makes a good change from the reefton spur - as much as we love it, it is infested with two wheel warriors and highway patrol cars on the weekends :frown:

not much snow traffic - as soon as you are past the marysville turnoff thats the end of it, and the roads aren't closed due to weather.

There's a big clock tower in Beechworth on the main street, if you're on that corner and face the corner diagonally opposite, stick your left arm out from your side and you'll be pointing right at the bakery.

I've spent years at Beechworth watching that clock ring in the new year.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Wow, what a great day for a drive in the hills. Thanks for organising this Craig. Good to put a few faces to the names. Sorry if I came across as a bit of now it all. I have not been out much lately and have forgotten some social Etiquette. From the number of cameras present I am looking forward to a number of high Qual pics.
