Jimmy,
According to my quick search (my manuals did not seem to list engine weight), I believe it is between 180kg-200kgs depending on the ancillaries attached.
See here -> clicky.
Anyone else able to to confirm?
Les

Cheers Les :P

My, hasn't technology advanced in such a short period. I was doing some research on the upcoming SLS Gullwing. Mercedes/AMG have refined their 6.2 to produce 420kW and 650Nm of torque. The amazing thing is it only weighs 206kg :shock: God i'm loving this engine more each day. The only thing sexier than its weight is its sound. AMG seem to have found a way to make grown men wet their pants.

I'd love the block to use as my coffee table. Or better yet, mate it to the 7sp DSG and clothe it in a Westie SEiW 8)

Sorry, this post is slightly not MX-5 related - I just wanted to compare the weight to something I was familar with.

Even more off topic :mrgreen: would a 120y engine be about the same?
15 years ago a wrecking yard in minto was closing down. $20 entry fee all you can carry
A mate and I went in and grabbed a kingswood bonnet to use as a pallet, we dragged a 1200, a 1500 and a 2l engine out on that bonnet (we weren't really carrying but pushing the bonnet like a sled) we also got a 200B dashboard and 2 front seats from a bluebird on it. :lol:

They didn't let us back in for a second go :cry:

The real shock that day was seeing an islander walking out with a sigma motor like he was carrying a slab of beer :shock:

I thought 200kg would be a little high for the B6 block no?
Huh?
