yes it did
It came out just after I bought my mariner blue NA6.. I was spewing.

I have no pic of it.

it was also sold for less than what I paid for my Mariner blue as a special edition.

Its possible that it was only the australian version which got the palm tree & stripe along the door. I thought your one actually had it on as well.

I'd take the sticker off too, who would want a palm tree on the car?

I have looked everywhere for a pic I can't find one either, you sure it was not just a sydney Mazda thing that was like two or three demo cars? I do recall seeing a pic once of one I think.

Its probably an Australian thing.....Because it was advertised as an special edition. It came with a boot release & CD and was either the same price $31k or something but I was pissed off because it was a month after I'd bought my Mariner Blue. So that would make it around Nov 1991.

I believe that there was a used car review of a Malibu in an old issue of Motor mag.

and I think it had the palm tree!

I shall see if I can dig up the magazine over the weekend.

I never saw a palm tree or striping on the Victorian malibus when they were released?
Coulda been a once-off for the car reviewers, or a particular dealer?

Well it's a start. Juffa's old Malibu had them. The palm trees are on the front fender and the blue and aquamarine lines run along the bodywork.

I've seen quite a few, but most owners remove them along with the front Mazda bumper sticker.
Juffa should have some better images.

I have never seen these on a non-Australian car.
