Which brand of Chamois is the best?

Just wondering... i've used the armorall and Kenko one so far...

I've normally bought the Meguiars gold class one as I've always been happy with it, but the last time I went to AutoBarn to buy one a mate of mine was working and instead suggested I buy the 'Bowden's Own' microfibre one instead. He said that it was cheaper (marginally, like $1.50 or something), just as good and significantly bigger.

I've only used it once so far and it seems good. Works fine and is a lot bigger, so you get it done much quicker. The test will now be to see how long it stays good for.

thats what i was thinking, i keep seeing those shamwow ads, but they seem to be alot more expensive, because you have to buy like 8 each time!!

thats expensive! $35, is it really that much better? I guess if it is its worth it

Another vote for these - work better than any chamois I've ever tried to use. And yes, well worth the price.

I've used the Meguiars microfibre one ever since they first came to Australia. It doesn't leave streaks or fluff on a black car and seems to dry OK but usually needs 2 wipes to dry properly.

The one that comes in the orange plastic tube. I think its oats clean or something like that.

From my 45+ years of using chamois, the microfibre ones are definitely the best.
For a start, they feel nice in your hands, never go hard and are always ready to use, no matter how dry they are.

When they get dirty, you can just put them into the washing machine and when they come out, they're ready to use again.
You don't have to worry about drying them, as they never get mildew on them, and I usually just have one floating around in the boot in case I need it.

Try one, you'll never go back to a natural chamois, nor a synthetic one.
Natural chamois are actually sheep skins, and they have a lot of oil and other stuff in them and they need a good wash in sudsy water before you can use them.
They also go very hard and brittle when very dry and then need to be soaked to get them useable.

I made the switch to microfiber about a year ago. I found it absorbed water much better, quicker and cleaner than my regular leather chamois (1m x 1m from a leather shop). The only trouble was that being microfiber, everything that wasn't microfiber clung to it making it near impossible to safely use again. If you drop it then there's no way you can use it again. I have since moved back to my leather chamois. It takes a bit longer but the end result is pretty close to perfect. Perhaps the microfiber chamois is best stored in a glad bag where no grit and other contaminants can embed themselves into the weave. This is how I keep all my car cleaning gear now.
